TRIO OF WINNING STABLES Records of Fair Stable, H. C. "Bud" Fisier and James duller in the Racing Campaign of 1924 FAIR STABLE The Fair Stable of Mrs. W. K. Vanderbilt was practically a "one horse" stable this year. That one horse was the gallant little flyer, Sarazen, though later in the summer the promising two-year-old, Nicholas, was added by purchase, 0,000 being paid for the grey son of Stefan the Great. The latter has been a disappointment since joining the Fair Stable, but there are hopes that he may redeem himself next year. It was the great Sarazen that enrolled the name of his fair owner on the list of the thirty leading money winners of 1924. Sara"zen won eight races and 5,040, his most notable performance being in the International Special, No. 3, at Latonia, in which he defeated Epinard and some of the best of American horses, running the fastest mile and a quarter ever recorded anywhere. Nicholas won one race and ,275 for the Fair Stable, and Lithuania, a two-year-old filly, by The Finn Winnie McGee, contributed ,200. This gave the Fair Stable a record of ten winners and 02,115, as shown in the following tabulation : Horse. CoI.Scx.Akc. Pedigree. 1st. 2d. 3d. Amt. Nellie Morse, the sensation of early spring racing, was the main dependence of the Fisher stable, with winnings of ,250. She won the valuable Preakness Stakes and Pimlico Oaks. Great things were expected of Mr. Mutt, in fact Mr. Fisher entertained hopes of capturing the coveted"- Kentucky Derby with him, hut the son of Ballot failed badly in that rich fixture. His best race this "year was in the Saratoga Cup, which he won. He also ran second in the Belmont Stakes and third in the Travers and Lawrence Realization. He contributed ?1G,100 to the stable earnings. Swope, a two-year-old, added 1,550, the following being the 1324 record of the Fisher stable : Horse. Col.Ser.Agc. Pedigree. 1st. 2d. 3d.
