i 1 Sarazen Leading Winner of 1924 Sarazen is the leading money winner of the year. He was the acknowledged champion two-year-old of 1923 and was one of the best, if not the best,, three-year-old of 1924. Another distinction has come to Mrs. Vanderbilts brilliant gelding in that he now joined the select list of American winners of over 00,000. Sarazen has won iri two years of racing a total of 33,440. SARAZEN As a two-year-old Sarazen was undefeated in all ten races in which he started and won 5.37,800. He was not eligible to the big juvenile fixtures of 1923 and as a result his ten victorious races brought less in a monetary way than success in one such race as the Hopeful. This year Sarazen was triumphant in eight out of twelve starts and earned 5,640. His greatest and crowning achievement was scored in the International Special No. 3 at Latonia when he not only defeated the French champion Epinard but all the best American horses that participated in that notable contest. In that race Sarazen carried 120 pounds and ran the mile and a quarter in 2:00, one of the fastest races ever run anywhere.
