Twenty Years Ago Today Chief Turf Events of Dec. 19, 1904 Racing at New Orleans, San Francisco and Los Angeles. Galen Brown and Gus Bluhm and family are the latest arrivals at Oakland from the East. Jockey C. Van Dusen, who recently arrived from Europe, was a visitor at New Orleans. He is anxious to ride there and will probably .be seen in the saddle during the coming week. Charles. McCaffertys good colt Dr. Leggo was bred at the Napa Stock Farm in California. His sire, Puryear D., is now owned by "White Hat" McCarthy. The colt was named for Dr. Leggo, the Harlem dentist. Pirate of Penzance, Milton Youngs noted English-bred stallion, has been retired from stud duty and turned out to end his days in luxury at McGrathiana Farm. He is now twenty-two years old. When he dies he will find a grave at the side of that of Hanover.
