Ellis, In a drive from C. Buxtons Long Point, while H. L. Gerrys Emissary was third. The winner was a forward factor throughout the running, and was kept close to the pace which was cut out by Bluemont. Hullabaloo, was eliminated from contention, when he stumbled at Uie start and almost unseated Jockey L. McAtee. Bluemont continued to show the way well into the stretch, but when challenged by Moonraker, gave way. Long Point, which began slowly, improved his position on the outside, but showed a tendency to bear in towards the inner rail, through the stretch and when straightened out closed fast, but failed to catch the leader. Emissary, from a slow beginning, saved ground turning for home, and was a fast going third. The race carried an added value of ,00U, and was worth ,875 to the winner. CLOUDY AT THE START. High Star, a first time starter, racing for the Log Cabin Stable and ridden by jockey E. Kummer, was returned the winner of the opening race of the afternoon, which engaged a field of two-year-olds at five-eighths. James Butlers Surprise Party was the one to finish second, while L S. Thompsons Aucilla was third. There was considerable crowding shortly after the start in which Suomi and Acrostic were the chief sufferers. Aucilla and Surprise Party quickly drew away into the lead, but High Star went along after them. The remainder of the field was many lengths back, with C Kummer taking up to keep from going down with Acrostic, while Suomi, after beginning forwardly, was shuffled back. Swinging for home Aucilla came to the outside while High Star slipped through on the inside rail. The Butler colt passed Aucilla and drew away, but at the end was unable to stall off the rush of High Star, which finished fast and was up in the final strides. The Log Cabin Stable completed a double when Blind Play was returned the winner of the Cosmopolitan, a highweight handicap at three-quarters for three-year-olds and over. At the end he had a wide margin over G. C. Winfreys Tester while Edward Arlingtons Dry Moon was third. There was no delay at the start and the field left in good alignment. It was Tester and Turf Idol that went out to make the early pace. Before the first quarter mile had been covered. Turf Idol began to falter and drop back. Rounding the far turn Kummer sent Blind Play to the leaders with a rush and racing on the outside he moved into the lead. Kummer kept his mount under punishment until well in the stretch where he took him in hand and steadied him to win in hand at the end. Tester was used up disposing of Turf Idol the first part, but held on well when put to a drive to outlast Dry Moon. The latter showed improvement over his previous start and was gaining fast on the outside through the stretch. CUE-RACK HOMK FIRST. A poor band of platers paraded for the running of the second race at one mile and seventy yards and J. Wormser supplied the winner in Cue-Hack, ridden by R. Matthews. At the end he had a safe advantage over It. Hy-ams Waratah and J. S. Cosdens Wedlock. When the start came Master Mind, which was on the inside, bolted and refused to leave with the others. Cue-Back was sent into an easy lead and was rated along in front. Waratah raced after him while Wedlock was leading the others. There was no change in the running positions to the end. Waratah made several attempts to overhaul the winner, but was not goi d enough. R. Alexanders Ducky and jockey L Pator proved a winning combination in the running of the fifth race, which was at a mile and seventy yards for platers.
