. NOTED IRISH LAD DEAD Irish L.ad. winner of tho Tirooklyn Handicap and many other races, died rscsatly in France at Mrs. Herman H. Pury is Haras du Gazon, where he was a pronounced success in the stud. Irish Lad was fo;iUd in 1900 and was bred by Kugene I-reigh at the farm of L. O. Appleby of the Silver Spring Stud near Hed Hank, New Jersey. He was a son of Candlemas and Arrowgrass, by Enquirer or bramble. He passed to John Madden who said him to Harry Payne Whitney and H. H. Duryea. He raced in the name and colors of the latter and was trained by John W. Hoists. Irish Lsal was considered one of the best horses of his time and he was contemporaneous with Hermis. Broomstick, Waterboy, The Picket and other stars. He started in thirty-three races of which he won twelve. finished second in five and third in two, his total earnings amounting to 9, 250. «. .
