SANOLAS GREAT SPEED ♦ Brings Victory to Chicago Favorite in Auroras Main Race. 1 Runs Away From Fast Braedal- bane in Last Eighth — Strong Wind Improves Track. i AURORA, 111.. June 9.— The fourth race on the program at Exposition Park this afternoon brought out the best field of the day. Seven were originally listed to start, but Goldmount and Pocket Mouse pulled up sore in their morning workouts and were permitted to be withdrawn, reducing the field to five starters. The result was a victory for the Chicago favorite, J. J. Heddermans Sanola, which came fast through the stretch to finish a length in advance of L. T. Coopers Braedalbane. with Strut Miss Lizzie nosing out Clarence for third money. From a good start Braedalbane quickly raced into the lead and, rounding the first turn, had opened up two lengths on Sanola and Clarence, while the other pair were a length back. At the stretch head it was still the Cooper horse in front, but Sanola was drawing away from the rest and setting about her task of getting to the leader. Midway of the stret -h Montgomery began to work on the daughter of Sain and she airly flew by the leader to win going away Braedalbane hum; on with good courage. however, but was not equal to the task of outstaying the eventual winner. Strut Miss Lizzie had saed ground at the stretch head and this enabled her to take the show portion of the purse from Clarence. Riviera, the only other starter, raced well for a quarter mile and then dropped out of it. Sanola was ridden by Montgomery and he tied MM for the days riding honors, each having two winners up to this race. A strong wind, which blew down the track, made conditions rather uncomfortable for the fans who patronize the stands aid lawn and many scrambles for loose headgear were in evidence during the day.
