I I CLEVELANDS NEWEST TRACK Thistle Down Park Is Place of Beauty and Convenience Seating1 Capacity of 10000 Course Itself ItselfSafe Safe and Fast 5000 Feature Featurefor for Opening Day CLEVELAND Ohio June 19 Clevelands best race track such has been the expression used by horsemen racing officials and turf patrons who have visited the Thistle Down Jockey Clubs beautiful new track which will open its inaugural meeting here July 18 and continue for nineteen days daysI Thistle Down Park became a reality with the breaking of ground last fall when it was anticipated by manager J McMillen that a aI quarter of a million dollars would be needed to erect a racing plant which would be a i credit to Cleveland Mr McMillens calcu lations went astray and threequarters of a million dollars has been expended upon the beautiful new course courseUnder Under the personal supervision of the ex ¬ pert Frank J Keegan the track proper was built It is ninety feet wide on the front stretch and seventyfive wide on the turns and on the back stretch with two chutes for the starting of threequarters and one and onequarter mile races There are already alreadyover over a hundred horses quartered here and working out over the track daily It has a nice cushion and should be a fast race raceCourse Course The grandstand is a duplicate of that of Long Branch Park at Toronto It is 300 1 feet long 189 feet deep The clubhouse is i patterned after that at Havre de Grace and j has all the modern appointments for the con j venience of its patrons With a largo i bleacher seating stand accommodation has been provided for close to ten thousand per ¬ sons sonsCondition Condition books for the meeting are now in circulation They were compiled by rac ¬ ing secretary Tony Wallace and call for no purse less than 1000 with a 5000 handicap every Saturday The opening day feature will be the Flintstone Memorial with 5000 added The admission fee will be within the reach of all 200 Mr McMillen stated today We will make every effort to popu ¬ larize our track and cater especially to the comfort and convenience of the horsemen
