MARYLAND TURF NOTES | HAVRE DE CRACK. Md.. April 14. Among the box holders at Havre de Crace are Kdward F. Sinmis. Harry Payne Whitney. Archibald Harklie. Walter Jeffords. Samuel D. Hiddle. J. J. Mahon. Robert J. Padgett. W. J. Salmon. H. Htchinson. Henry Pisston. Edward P. Whitney, .lames Howe, Joseph Archer. Edward Hurke. J. K. L. Ross. Willis Bharpe Kilmer. Samuel Rosa, Adm. Cary T. Crayson, Edward Seagram and Hal Parr. Robert Walden has arranged to ship th-band of racers he wintered at Middleburg, Md.. to the Pimlico course some day this week. Wald n has fourteen horses in training this spring, the star of which is the ;hr -e-y ear-old. Genuine. The latter is reported to hae come out of winter quarter in great condition. "Ruddy " Mayberry reports that James Arthurs clever apprentice McCrossen. who sustained injuries at Miami as a result of a fall, is here after resting up for several weeks at the home of his parent*; in Rochester. X. Y. • Mayberry. beside*, making MeCros-sens engagements, has jockey C. Hangs book. Jimmy Hutwell. who will do the riding for the Kdward F. Whitney stable this year, is down to weight and ready for his best. At the conclusion of the Pimlico meeting Rut-well will accompany the Whitney stable to Toronto. J. K. K. Ross was an arrival from Montreal. He recently returned from a trip abroad, where he spent most of the winter. The Ross stable will be shipped to the Woodbine course at the conclusion of the Pimlico meeting. A. C Weston, acting for Thomas Clyde, disposed of the two-year-old. EL Buford. to G. K. Knsor. Jockey Froggatte has arranged to leave for Lexington, April 21. where he goes to join the stable of his employer. K. M. Holmes, who shipped his stable there direct from New Or leans. W. Keating is making the engagements of Albert Johnson. F. Co.tiletti and J. Callahan. Jockey flotterup was suspended for three days by starter Milton for misbehavior at the post on Baby Kane in the second race. Kuke A. Cassidy. general manager of the Miami Jockey Club, was an opening day visitor. While being shipped by van. en route from Howie to Havre de Crace. Spugs got cast in his stall and injured himself enough to win the stewards in excusing him from] starting in the seventh race. George Fields has given first call on hisj services for the Maryland spring meeting to H. i. Smith. P. K. Fitzgerald, who has been here for six wckse with Comet. Byron, Flint and Asa Jewell, will, as usual, campaign his string on the Canadian circuit this year. Comet I and Byron have been gelded since last fall. 1 lucks and Prakes. the giant Knglish sprinter in the J. K. K. Ross stable, has been operated on for a wind affection by Dr. McCully. Bob Smith is looking fit after a sojourn of three weeks at Hot Springs. He is here hoping to repeat the wonderful success he-had at the recent Miami meeting.
