NO CONFLICT OVER DATES Tracks in Chicago District Reach Amiable Agreement. ♦ Aurora and Homewood "Dates Announced — Hawthorne and Lincoln Fields to Follow — Judge Hay for Fairmount. ♦ There will be no conflict of racing dates in the Chicago district That is the assurance of all those interested in the tracks in this vicinity after a conference held Friday evening. Aurora, Hawthorne, Lincoln Fields and Homewood, the latter two plants being under construction, are the so-called Chicago tracks. The first meeting will be held at Aurora, as already announced in these columns, the Exposition Park Jockey Club throwing open its large and commodious plant to the public on May 20. The plans for this meeting, the purse offerings and list of officials, have I already been made known to the horsemen and public. Nothing definite has been settled in re-! gards to Hawthorne, but it is probabie that a meeting will be held at the Cicero course, j dates for which will be announced after a j conference of its stockholders in the near 1 future. The Illinois Jockey Club plans to open its Homewood course on July 3, and has sent out entry blanks among the horsemen for the stake races to be offered at its initial meeting. The course is under construction and those behind the venture are confident that it will be completed in time for its announced opening da,te. Lincoln Fields is the newest of the tracks being built near Chicago. It is located at Crete, 111., in Will County, and construction work is already well advanced considering a late start, due to the recent inclement weather and the necessity of building a spur to the grounds before material could be unloaded there. The building of Lincoln Fields is under the direction and management of Col. Matt Winn, general manager of the Kentucky Jockey Club, and that fact in itself j is assurance that the plant will be one of I the finest in the country and will be com-j pleted in due time for its inaugural meet-I ing, dates for which Colonel Winn is expected to announce shortly. Colonel Winn yesterday made known the appointment of judge C. W. Hay to serve as steward at Fairmount Park, the new track opened last year at Collinsville, 111., which ] is controlled by Winn and his associates. As judge C. W. Hay has already been announced as presiding steward, in charge of racing at Homewood. the inference is that I harmony will prevail among the various Chicago racing interests.
