I ARRAGOSA IN FINAL DRIVE Furnishes Surprise in Beating Good Performers in Akrons Chief Offering. AKRON. Ohio, April 24.— William Tains Arragosa furnished somewhat of a surprise when he took the measure of some good performers in the Firestone Tire and Rubber Company Handicap, sixth and feature race at Northampton Park this afternoon. It was only after a hard drive, however, that he got home by a narrow -margin in front of Brownie Smile with Bong Point a handy third, two lengths away. Ghtjr Clayton, Bong Ioint and Arragosa was the order to the far turn where there was a general closing up of the rear horses. Cuy Clayton and Monday Morning both dropped out of contention on reaching the stretch and the placed trio fought it out to the end. It was a stirring contest. Despite intermittent showers mingled with sunshine the halt-In diday crowd swelled the attendance to the largest of the meeting. The light rain failed to injure the going to any great extent, but a high cool wind swept the course, making winter wearing apparel necessary for comfort. Zoona proved to be easily best of those in the initial race, and was never in serious trouble. Taking command at once. Cottager made a runaway of the second clash. Making his debut under colors, Pleasant Smiles outnosed Pick from the start of the third anil, despite making a wide stretch turn, held him safe at the end. V.
