Dick Welles* Selections At Lexington i i ! i t , ; JAXE C— BOBBIE SHEA— CnAttCOAL. 1 1 JANE C has had a long rest since the J ! last Lexington meeting, and has been show- I I ing fine speed in her trials of late. She is I j a speedy miss and should be able to take the j j measure of this bunch. BOBBIE SHKA went wrong after being shipped to Florida, I j ; and was only given one race while there. In j that race he finished a good second to Irish | Lace. He is himself again now and should I go well here. CHARCOAL was just getting into top form at Jefferson Park when that meeting came to a close. If he has not ; gone back too much he may prove troublesome. UNLUCKY raced fairly well at Mobile, and he may prove good enough to get a portion of the purse. THIRTEEN* SIXTY— ENGABINE— JULIETTE ESQUIX. Clyde Van Dusen is reported to be train- ! ing a speedy individual in THIRTEEN ; SIXTY. This two-year-old goes in the sec- : ! ond race, framed for maiden fillies over the : half-mile route. She is * by that good sire. John I. Grier, and is said to have many of j ! his good qualities. ENGADINE is to carry the colors of J. N. Camden and is a product , of his own breeding establishment. This j miss has shown very well in her speed j trials, and may be the one to race to the I place. JULIETTE ESQlIN had a few J races at the Fair Grounds at New Orleans | : and her last one was a fair performance. I f ■ i she were to race as kindly here, could save the show money. EDEN, from the stable of EL P. Whitney, has had some racing experience and may go well here. SIOIMV McGEE— GEOKGK BE MAR— CHICKYALE. SPORTY McGEE has all the speed of those that contest in the third number. ; ; Perkins has been giving him some stiff : workouts lately and he has been doing all that was asked of him. GEORGE DE MAR , appeared to be getting stale with too much racing, but is said to be in good condition now that he has had a long rest since the , close of the Tampa meeting. Whitney sent : CHICKVALE to Miami in the hopes of winning ; a few races with him, but he did not go so well. Look for him to do much better in this race. ROBERT MAX WELL— HAPPY TOF— FRESIBENT. The fourth race dopes to read as follows : ROBERT MAXWELL, HAPPY TOP and PRESIDENT. The first mentioned ran some mighty good races over the Miami Jockey Clubs course and only needs to race as Kindly today to be home the winner. HAPPY TOP proved to be a most consistent racing • tool at Lexington last fall and with the i long rest -he has had. should now be in his i best condition. PRESIDENT, which races I 1 1 J ! I I I j j j I j ; j | I ; ! ; : ! : j ! , j j I J | : ■ i ; ; : , , : ; • i i I for the Idle Hour Farm Stable, finally at-I tained winning form at the last Jefferson Park meeting and can be expected to carry the others along at a lively clip. This race should also serve to settle the many different opinions of the Croissant hope for the Kcn- tucky Derby when Pigeon Wing II. is seen in action. IDLE HOIB STOCK FARM STABLE ENTRY— BE VOX— TOKEN. The fifth race is named the Preparation Purse, and is an allowance affair over the mile distance. Most of those entered are also named for the Kentucky Derby and the first real line on the different starters wiU be obtained in the running. The Bradley reliance. BUBBLING OYER, and BOOT TO BOOT, which firrshed second to Bagenbag-gagc in the Louisiana Derby, appear to have the race at their mercy. DEVON looks to have the next best chance basing on his last years form. TOKEN doesnt seem to be a colt of Derby calibre but he may be able to-get in the money in this number. MAN-TONIAN. from the stable of H. T. Archibald, will be watched by many in this race as he is said to be the most advan -ed colt in training for the Derby seen at this course. GAY HALLIE— SIXGIXG CRICKET— GREYFACE. The sixth race is framed for the juveniles to race over the half mile distance, and here, GAY HALLIE is given the call over SINGING CRICKET and GREYFACE. The former was thought to be one of the best two-year-olds at New Orleans but she failed to live up to those promises. However, she slightly outclasses her opponents in this number and should be the one to be returned the winner. SINGING CRICKET fared pretty wrell in her winter campaign and if she runs as well here will be the one to give the winner the most trouble. GREYFACE appears to be a colt of good class. His only race to date was at Tampa when he merely cantered home in front. If he were to race in the same manner today would be a strong contender. SCOTLAND was scratched in the second race Saturday. Basing on his trials, he may prove dangerous. XORSELAXD— MRS. MOORE-BROKE X TOY. NORSELAND figures to be the winner of the concluding race on the card. She performed very well over the Tampa course and a race back to those efforts would find her home the winner. MRS. MOORE raced con-l sistently at the Fair Grounds course at . New Orleans, and is the one most feared. ! BROKEN TOY, another winter campaigner. I could take down the show money if she were j to run one of her good races. SEA DRIFT has not been to the races this year, but she j is said to be good at the present and may I prove a trouble maker. I i i . . t i i ,
