MAIN RACE TO GUNNY SACK Scores by Narrow Margin in Principal Offering at Beulah Park. COLUMBUS, O., April 29.— The program at Beulah Park today was made up entirely of claiming races, the most important of which was the sixth, contested over a route of one mile and seventy yards. The winner turned up in F. Hayes Gunny Sack. The latter, far out of it in the early stages, came to the outside in the stretch and, closing up gamely, just got up near the end to win by a narrow margin. Running Fox outgamed Gun Sight in the final test for second place. The latter raced on the inside in the worst part of the track throughout and tired when put to a drive in the stretch. Favorable conditions prevailed with a return to warmer weather, and a fair crowd was on hand to witness the sport. Pe Grado graduated from the ranks of the nonwinners in capturing the opening race, but was doing his best at the end to gain the decision from Millie G. The latter had a wide margin over Towtons Choice for second place. The race was for maidens and was closely contested all the way. Black Angel scored a well-deserved victory in the following dash. The winner was suited by the going, came from fourth place in the stretch and. closing up strongly outside of the leaders in the run home, drew clear at the end. Princess Jane showed good speed to the stretch and held on well to save second place. Horinga was tiring and doing her best for third. A surprise came with the running of the third race when San San, a five-year-old maiden, took the measure of his opponents handily in the final quarter. The winner shook off Frontiersman, the early leader, on the far turn and drew into the lead, but was doing his best at the end. The latter saved second place with Uncle Yelo coming from far back to get up for third in the closing strides. Mary G.. under a hustling ride from jockey J. Connors, registered a win for M. II. Jordan in the fourth race. Outrun in early stages, the winner began moving up strongly on the outside of the leaders approaching the turn for home and, overtaking the leaders in the stretch, drew clear near the end. Silent Lillian raced on the inside of the track in the worst of the going and tired when the final test came. Albert L. outgamed the tiring Jack Pot in the final few strides for third. Ruth S. scored her second success of the meeting, coming from the rear in the stretch to gain the decision at the end of the fifth. Red Mill was close up at all stages and outgamed Havana Electric for second place.
