AURORA RACING NEAR First Meeting in Chicago Vicinity Opens Thursday More Horses Than Ever Before BeforeAvailable Available Exposition Park Parkin in Complete Readiness Now that the running of the fiftysecond Kentucky Derby is a matter of history the interest of local racing devotees will be turned in the direction of Aurora where the Exposition Park gates will be thrown open next Thursday May 20 for the first of the racing meeting of 192C in the vicinity of Chicago ChicagoNever Never before since racing was established at the Fox Valley track has conditions been brighter for a most successful meeting Whereas last year and the year previous much persuasion had to be employed to at ¬ tract owners to Aurora the reverse is the case this year The question is now how to take care of all who desire to race at Exposition Park ParkNot Not only is every stall spoken for on the inside of the course but stables and other buildings on tho outside have been requisi ¬ tioned to provide accommodations for those who are willing to accept such arrangements in order to race at the meeting meetingGeneral General manager Cliff Trimble announces that the preliminary work in connection with the forthcoming meeting has been completed and everything is in thorough readiness for the opening day dayThere There will be no early closing stake races offered this spring but instead the daily purses will be substantially increased A total of 7000 will be offered daily except Saturdays and on Decoration Day Each day there will be one purse of SOO five of 1000 each one the feature races will either be 2000 or 2500 while on Decoration Day the chief prize will be 3500 These feature races will close for entries one week before the date of their running Mr Trimble be ¬ lieves that this liberal change in policy should be pleasing and acceptable to the horsemen who patronize the Aurora track A new drainage system has been installed at the track at a cost of over 10000 and it is predicted that the course will dry out faster than ever before no matter how heavy the downpour This is not the only improve ¬ ment at Exposition Park A concrete walk has been built from the railroad landing to the grandstand and in front of the grand ¬ stand which the patrons of the course will appreciate in bad weather All the stalls have been refilled and the painters have been busy furbishing up the entire plant so that Chicago patrons and visitors from other parts will find everything in spic and span order when the bugle calls the horses to the post next Thursday ThursdayArrangements Arrangements have again been made with the C B Q railroad for the same effi ¬ cient train service that it provided last year There will be two special trains daily and three on Saturdays
