Derby Day Sidelights LOUISVILLE Ky May 15 Although vicepresident and general man ¬ ager M J Winn has increased the box space at Churchill Downs to 2000 boxes and pro ¬ vided a new grandstand to accommodate 5000 people every box and seat and every foot of standing room was occupied today by an expectant and enthusiastic throng All Churchill Downs records were broken and Colonel Winn will find it necessary ext year to double the capacity of this mammoth lant to care for his patrons patronsGov Gov Austin Peay of Nashville and a party of friends occupied a box in the clubhouse The governor is an ardent lover of the thehoroughbred horoughbred and never misses the Kentucky Derby DerbyClose Close guard was kept over the different candidates for the last night before the big race and the no time to leave New York to come for the Derby Mr Oots stated that tie has sixteen horses in training belonging to Mr Brady at Belmont Park including the filly by Man o War Tuscan Red for which Mr Brady paid 50500 at the Sara ¬ toga sales last summer This filly has been named War Feathers and according to her trainer is going along famously in her training trainingEarl Earl Linnell arrived for the Derby and announced that his stable is at present at Fairmount getting ready for the opening of that meeting Mr Linnell is training horses for August Busch Jr of St Louis Alex Pantages wealthy western threatrical man and J H Rosseter wellknown California breeder and owner At the conclusion of the Fairmount meeting trainer Linnell will ship his stable to Saratoga SaratogaBruce Bruce Head general manager of the Fair mount Jockey Club and Sewell Combs presi ¬ dent of the Kentucky Association at Lexington were in attendance The Kentucky Associa ¬ tion this year had the best meeting in its
