CLOSING DAY AT COLUMBUS Miss Jennie Takes An Revoir Han ¬ dicap Defeating Ombrage Cogan Bides Confidently COLUMBUS Ohio May 15 Miss Jennie accounted for the An Revoir Handicap the fifth and feature race of the half holiday and closing day card at Beulah Park ParkSix Six starters faced the barrier in this race and when the start came all were off in al ¬ most perfect alignment but in the first half mile Miss Jennie and Ombrage raced away from the others and staged a stirring fight for the lead Jockey P Cogan who had the mount on Miss Jennie rode a contident race and rated back of the early pace set by Ombrage but when the field was approach ¬ ing the turn for home Miss Jennie responding well to light urging went to the outside of Ombrage and drew out decisively in the run home and won as if much the best Bruneth raced on the outside most of the way and overhauling Ombrage in the stretch run managed to outstay Six Pence for second place The latter also finishing fast gained the show money from Ombrage in the final strides Ombrage tired badly from her early efforts in taking the lead and when a few yards beyond the finish stumbled and all but fell unseating W Habjan her rider who luckily escaped injury injuryEvening Evening Star accounted for the opening race after showing the most speed at all stages but was hard ridden throughout and forced to do his best at the end to stall off Brown Trout The latter pressed the winner closely all the way and on the outside of Evening Star in the stretch run was slowly wearing him down in the last few yards Herbert outstayed the others for the show money moneyB B Creech scored a double when Matinee Idol easily defeated his opponents in the sec ¬ ond race and Redskin decisively took the measure of the field in the following contest Both winners were well ridden by jockey H West Matinee Idol coming from the rear of Lucille Russell the early leader in the stretch run overhauled the latter a six ¬ teenth out and drew away at the end with little effort Lucille Russell held Log Fire safe for second place placeRedskin Redskin never left the result in doubt in the third and made a show of his opponents In winning by a big margin De Grado fin ¬ ishing very fast in the stretch easily disposed of the tiring Jack Pot for second place in the final strides
