Dick Welles Selections SelectionsAt At Churchill Downs DOLLY BAY MAHY KIXKEAD HOSE MIST MISTOf Of the fillies that hook up in the opener DOLLY BAY seems to be the most likely winner She has turned in several good per ¬ formances of late and in her last two races was good enough to land the place money On each occasion she appeared to be just a little short of a winning effort Today should prove a different story however MAHY KJNKEAD put in a strenuous cam ¬ paign at Tampa last winter and in her fii appearance here did not fare so well She is reported to be in good condition at the present and only recently turned in a whale of a workout If she would run back to that work think she could account for the place money here ROSE MIST was good but taking a line through her only out to date is not quite ready for a winning per ¬ formance Allowing for the fact that it was her first start of the season we are expecting her to show to much better advantage today and think she may be good enough for the show end of the purse purseBOURBOX BOURBOX GIRT MISS CHINIQUY WOOD NYMPH NYMPHThe The conditions of the second number calls for maiden fillies over the four and a half furlongs distance and here a good play is spotted in BOURBON GIRL Her last race indicated that she may be ready for a win ¬ ning race most any time and as the class of those she meets here is not much she may be able to turn the trick MISS CHINIQUY raced fairly well at Lexington in her only two appearances and if she has improved any at all should be the one to cause the most trouble in the race She has not been seen under colors on 1 fast track her races at the Kentucky Association course being through the mud WOOD NYMPH just missed getting the decision in her last start here She raced in the lead throughout only to tire and drop back when the stretch racing began A like effort today would very likely find her landing in the three hole LADY PENNANTS chances look faily good also should the going remain fast fastBLACK BLACK CRACKLE BRIER HILL BOTHER BOTHERA A bulky field is scheduled to contest in the third number over the mile and a sixteenth route BLACK GRACKLE which races for J J Ahearn turned in such a performance her last out that we are compelled to place her on top here In that race she showed quite an improvement over her proceeding start and was beaten by the lightly weighted Lady Von Assuming that the race did her much good we are expecting her to be the one to romp home the winner If BRIER HILL would race back to his next to last out think he would be able to share in the purse money In that race he forced Meddling Mattie to do her best to beat him a head for all the money BOTHER on recent races seems to have lost his New Orleans form but he is said to be back in good condition at the present and if so could land the show end of the purse ELIAS O on recent workouts may prove a surprise winner winnerPORT PORT STAR KHALIFA SPORT TRAIL fourth race known as the Orell Purse PORT STAR the speedy trick of E B McLean looks like a standout here and seems to be the best play on the program He took into camp some good ones his last out and did it in a manner to suggest he is a little above the average of the haby racers seen here to date His win was over the fiveeighths distance the same as is called for here and he figures to be home by a wider margin today than in his last race KHALIFA is most consistent and if he runs as has been his wont in previous races will most likely be the nearest to PORT STAR at the finish SPORT TRAIL is from the same stable as j the latter and looks good enough to earn the show money for his establishment also alsoAMERICAN AMERICAN SOX LIGHT CARBIXE OLD SLIP SLIPA A good race is in prospect in the Watterson Hotel Handicap to bs run as the fifth The highly touted AMERICAN SOX should be the one to take down the purse taking a line through his last effort when he was good enough to land in third place to Lee O Cot ner and Needle Gun He failed to show much while at Tijuana last winter but seems to be improving since arriving here Those that he meets here are more of his class and he should show to better advantage The Preak ness and Derby failure LIGHT CARBIXE should be the one to give AMERICAN SOX the most trouble True he finished out of the money in both of the previous mentioned races but in each one it was a creditable performance With fewer opponents to con ¬ tend with today he should be able to at least account for the place money OLD SLIP has slipped plenty since leaving Miami but lates a little higher than CORONATION the only other starter starterPRINCE PRINCE OK WALES ALLEG HAN REPUTATION REPUTATIONSpeed Speed is the order of the sixth as no fewer than eleven sprinters of the better class are to race over the five and a half furlongs dis ¬ tance If PRINCE OF WALES last race was no fluke he should be the one to prove best In that out he stepped the threequar ¬ ters in 1 112s 12s and was pulling up at the finish That is a good performance for any horse and if he would only go as well today think he would win That he is going to meet plenty of opposition is evident ALLE GHAN is among these and he rates second best He was not good enough for a try at the Derby but should fit in well here REPU ¬ TATION is still another speedy individual He has not been to the races this year so far and is now in new hands If he has retained his 1925 form he will prove a tough one to beat ASINIA rates well up on her last years form and may be able to horn in the money moneyDRY DRY MOON SUN HATH OR SPAXISH ROSE ROSEIn In the concluding number the Croissant owned DRY MOOX gets the call over SUN HATHOR and SPANISH ROSE The former has been racing in greatly improved form of late and needs but to give up the same brand of racing to score here SUN HATHOR made an auspicious debut here when he was home a handy winner over Eager and Phidi ¬ as If that race was an indication of his true form he will stand a lot of beating today SPANISH ROSE has been working in fine style of late and a race back to those works should find her close up at the finish FIRETOMA and MACBETH both stand a good chance of landing in the money earners division with the formers chances appearing the best One Best Bet PORT STAR in Fourth Race
