AGA KHAN THROUGH RACING I William Woodward Decides to Retire Stake Winner Follow ¬ ing Injury in Workout NEW YORK N Y May 21 Aga Khan the sturdy campaigner of the last few years will soon be retired to the stud When work ¬ ing a mile and a quarter recently at Aque ¬ duct he wrenched himself in some way and while he seems to have come out of it Wil ¬ liam Woodward who owns him did not wish to run any chance by racing him when not at his best He has determined to train the horse no further but to retire him himAga Aga Khan has been an exceptional horse of great endurance and great racing ability He is the winner of the Lawrence Realiza ¬ tion and other important handicaps He could run far and at high speed when he had clear racing room as is shown by his record performance in the Pierrcpont Handi ¬ cap a mile and a quarter in 201fs He was in the lead at the mile in 1 36 Again at Belmont in the spring of his fouryearold year he ran another mile in 1 PG finishing one mile and a furlong in a canter in 1 5075 5075These These are fast performances and any one who saw the memorable struggle between Aga Khan and Altawood in the Jockey Club Cup last year when the two ran locked for the hist quarter of a mile of their twomile journey will doubtless always remember It Altawood carried 120 pounds and Aga Khan 125 in that race raceOn On blood lines Aga Khans breeding leaves nothing to be desired and with the oppor ¬ tunities that he will be given should make good in the stud
