Dick Welles Selections SelectionsAt At Aurora DICK WELLES SELECTIONS AT AUR HIGH CAHD LAFE M BATHILDE SETH SETHHIGH HIGH CARD came near turning the trick in his last start and at a juicy price too That effort was a mighty good one and if he would run as well today think he would be good enough to account for the opening number His last effort was over a heavy track and what he will do on a fast course is problemetical He started once at Lexington when a fast track pre ¬ vailed but being his first start some ex ¬ cuses can be found for him LAFE M was close up in most of his Columbus races and in his first start here gave a fair account of himself He rates as the contender and is good enough to score should HIGH CARD falter BATHILDA SETH will be making her first start since the Tijuana meeting She raced with fair success while there and if she puts up the same kind pf a perform ¬ ance here may get the show money McCJinniOX EL ASTRO NELL JO JOThe The Maryland performer McCRIMMON did not show up so well in his initial start here which was through the mud With a fast racing strip once more in order ho can be expected to do much better He never has shown an aptitude for the mud and does his best over a firm track The Star Shoot gelding EL ASTRO rates near ¬ est to McCRtMMOX He was victor in three of his last four starts at Columbus and Huntington and if he has retained that same form will be a hard one to beat He does equally well over the sprint or longer distances but his main forte is sprinting NELL JO should have benefitted by her long rest since the Mobile meeting and if she lias not lost all semblance of form would be the one to fill gap between the money earners and the also rans KERRY GIRLi has but to race as she did in her last start and she would completely upset the dopeSILK dope SILK SOX IDLE THOUGHTS GAL ATIA ATIAA A limit field is in prospect for the third as no less than seventeen were entered The same applies to the first two races also Times have certainly changed It used to be that not enough horses were on the grounds to fill the various races and now there is an overflow most every day Get ¬ ting back to the task o picking the winner is another thing SILK SOX looks to have the best chance basing on his last out In that race he lasted long enbugh to get the show money with Mabel Seth and Bullet Proof leading him home He is a speedy individual when in the moodt and should he elect to run one of his good races think he can score here The Tijuana racer IDLE THOUGHTS met and defeated some good ones at the border track last winter and should go well here She is reported fit and rarin to go after her long rest GALATIA failed to race with much success over the Maryland courses but we are looking for her to do better today She has been work ¬ ing in a satisfactory manner and is said to be ready readyMAYBEERY MAYBEERY MISS ANN FIREWATER FIREWATERThe The fourth race on the card is given ovei to the baby racers and a rare battle is promised Three of those entered were winners in their last start while Miss In nocence also was home first in a race at Havana but lost a race since then We are picking MAYBERRY to repeat his per formance of Saturday when he scored so handily He is the only one of those en ¬ tered with one exception that has raced over this course and it should work to his advantage MISS ANN scored in her first asking at Lexington and should be the one to place If that performance was no fluke She defeated some good ones then and appears to be a clean cut racer FIRE ¬ WATER is from the stable of Boots Dur nell and her record reads two wins in a row at Tampa Both of her victories were achieved over a muddy course and not much is known of what she can do on a fast track trackMONDAY MONDAY MORNING STRUT MISS LIZZIE PEGASUS PEGASUSIn In the Elgin Handicap feature race on the program today MONDAY MORNING looks like a real good play In fact we think so well of his chances that we give him to you as our one best bet He carries but 111 pounds and at that weight should be able to beat this bunch His first start here found him among the alsos but the excess poundage he packed stopped him With the lesser weight today we look for him to take the lead at the rise of the barrier and retain it from start to finish STRUT MISS LIZZIE is the danger in the race Her last race was a good one when she finished third to Sanola and Thunder Shower The same effort today should find here closer up at the finish PEGASUS will be making his first start since the Tampa meeting While racing over the Florida course he more than held his own and he can be counted on as being among the money earners DOWN TOWN won his last fives races in a row at Havana but he seems destined to meet de ¬ feat today He meets much better company here and dont think he can turn the trick trickHIS HIS QUEEN GENTRY GEO DETER DETERThe The longest price winner of the meeting to date is HIS QUEEN which scored at odds i of C7 to 1 on opening day Hers was a good showing then and we think she is good enough to repeat that performance Of course no odds like those which prevailed i in her last start will be posted against her GENTRYS last race was one to suggest that he is getting back to his old form If such is the case he will bear watching in the race GEO DEVER is still a maiden but one that is apt to graduate most any time In his last out he made Albert L give his all to beat him a head for all the money He has been threatening to win for quite a while now and is overdue SHtTFFLE put up a good effort in his last try The same effort today may find him among the first three threeINTICTUS INTICTUS STEVENS SISTER JOSELLA JOSELLAIn In the closing tilt a distance race over the mile and seventy yards route we are picking INVICTUS to be home first He ran a good race his first out here and after leading until well into the stretch tired and was passed by Albert L and Geo Dever That effort should have put him on edge for to ¬ days test and we think he will prove one of the easiest winners of the day STEVEXS ran a like race in his first appearance here but dont think he is good enough to beat INVICTUS He figures the closest to the winner at the windup SISTER JOSELLA has been doing most of her racing over the short sprinting distances with a longer race thrown in occasionally While she doesnt seem to have much chance of winning think she may be good enough to land the show end of the purse One Best Bet MONDAY MORNING in Fifth Race
