LADIES DAY AT AK-SAR-BEN Serves to Bring Out Large Crowd — Ramble Equals Track Record in Best Race of Day. OMAHA. Neb.. June 22.— An exceptionally large crowd of feminine race fans took ad-fiitHf* of ladies day to journey to Ak-Sar-Ben Field this afternoon and with the males in attendance made up one of the biggest week-day crowds of the present session. Good prices prevailed throughout the afternoon and the finishes for the most part were close and exciting. Ramble, a long priced one from the G. F. Jenkins barn, accounted for the best race of the day. which was a claiming affair at one mile and seventy yards, and came fifth on the card. The winner never left the issue in doubt. Taking command rounding the first turn. he assumed a good advantage and at the half-mile pest was five lengtns in front of her elcsest rival. She held this advantage to the end and won with her ears pricked, equaling the track record of 1 :44 for the distance. Viola i urton was second, two lengths ahead of Melachrino. the third burs.-. Shasta Donna was made favorite, but ran a terrible race and was never a contender. She had some bad luck at the first turn, but Taylor kept her under restraint all down the back stretch when ho might have be. n pushing her on. She finished a bad last. Dicks Seth, a speedy but faint hearted young gelding, held on long enough to win the first race. He was away first, and set a •lzzling pace to midway of the stretch, where he had a four lengths advantage, and, although he was tiring, lasted to win by over a length. Fairys Beau took second, and Guinea » .old third. Quota raced strongly through the stretch to take the second race. Golden Red and Good Hope were well liked by the talent in this event, but they swung wide at the stretch turn and the winner and Brown Trout came through on the rail to take first and second places. Gold, n lied was third. Hapsburg Miss won the third race, after a driving finish with Guvnor. This pair battled it out through the stretch, and the former was the gamer and got the derision.! Kliza lirown was third. A fair field ,f sprinters went to the post in the fourth, and it was won by the greatly j improved Korbly. This gelding had all of his former speed today, and led from beginning to end. Emma Hoagland made a gam. hid in the str.t.h. but could not catch the winner. but managed to take second place from Hands l*p. Jessie I.ee was claimed by G. F. Jenkins for H£M e tenl;:y.
