CARD OF CLAIMING RACES Interesting Sport Provided Over Much Improved Going at Beulah Park. COLUMBUS. Ohio, April 21.— A series of claiming races once more made up the card at Beulah Park this afternoon, but the fields were evenly balanced and productive of interesting contests. They were contested o*ver a much improved track and, despite a heavily clouded sky, a crowd of usual mid-week day proportions was on hand to witness the sport. With the running of the third race cams the best finish of the meeting, the three placed horses flashing past the wire in almost perfect alignment. Sweetum showed the way until well into the stretch, where Mill Boy and Batsman challenged. After a courageous effort. Mill Boy, which had saved ground at the turn for home, eventually earned the decision. Hardman nosed out Sweetum in the final stretch drive for second money. Wood Cricket had the most speed through, out in the opening race, but it required her best efforts at the end to retain a slight advantage over Lulie Dear, which ran well. Quince Delight just managed to save third place. Leading by a safe margin at all stages, the Thistledown Stables Mercury was never seriously threatened during the running of the second race and won easily. Solomons Kilts was best of the others and held second place safe. Easter Laddie made up considerable ground to outstay the others. -*
