$ 1 9 Dick Welles Selections At Aurora 9 4 One Best Bet — AL STEBLEB — In the Sixth Race. For the second day of the Exposition Park Jockey Clubs meeting, the Al Jolson Handicap at three-quarters mi*e, is the feature race on the card. This brings out a fair sized field of sprinters to strive for honors and, with the even class of the contestants, a fine race should result. The remaining six races are all of the claiming variety, with the sixth and seventh over a distance of a mile and seventy yards. All chance for a fast racing strip went glimmering Wednesday night when more rain fell and it will take plenty of sunshine and warmth to bring the track to its best condition. Notwithstanding the fact that the going is quite heavy, trainers have been liberal with their entries and the sport should not suffer from lack of contestants. The fields as a whole are somewhat smaller today, but they are of a size that should make for good racing, with the possibility of jamming eliminated. The first two-year-old race of the meeting is to be decided as the opening race, this calling for maidens to race over the half-mile distance. MAT HUNTER— MISS DRAPEAU— JANE BROOKER, Of the two-year-old maidens entered in the introductory number, MAT HUNTER, a son of Chatterton, is chosen to win. He turned in one fair effort over a sloppy track at Tijuana and a race back to that performance should see him leading the others home. MISS DRAPEAU showed nothing in her two appearances to date this year, but has worked in fine style and is about ready for a creditable showing. JANE BROOK ER saw plenty of racing at New Orleans, but failed to do anything. Her workouts indicate that she is nearing top form and may be able to land in the money today. INDRA should hold the others safe and may prove troublesome. GOOD TIME— BRAEDALBANE— FORE GOLD. The second race Is at five and a half furlongs and it looks like a good spot for GOOD TIME to come romping home ahead of the others. This old campaigner is at home in any sort of going and is mightly dangerous at the distance. BRAEDALBANE raced with fair success over the Florida tracks last winter and appears to hold a good chance in this sort of company. He is a good mud runner also. TORE GOLD rates the best of the others and should be able to account for the show portion of the purse. J. G. BICKELi prefers a fast track. The others do not call for much. WOODLAKE— ST. NICHOLAS— MYRRH. Another five and a half furlongs sprint is down for decision as the third race. WOOD-LAKE was more or less consistent at Tijuana last winter and he only has to race in his best form to win this number. He holds an inside post position, but is a fast starter and should bo able to take the lead j and hold it the entire distance. ST. NICHO- LAS has not been to the races since his | last appearance here last fall. He was the I runner-up in his last five starts and will be j troublesome company today if he races in l the same manner. MYRRH ha3 been working well and may be the one to get the show money. TAVERN TALK is the one to fear. He likes the muddy going and is strictly a sprinter. MISS MISCHIEF— MONASTERY— INVICTU8. MISS MISCHIEF should be the one to score in the three-quarters mile, of the fourth race, providing she does not tire. She usually gets off to a flying start, but does not always hold her advantage. She has had a long rest since the close of the Havana meeting and should be all set for a winning performance MONASTERY was entered opening day and, if he is started here, appears to be the one MISS MISCHIEF will have to beat INVICTUS comes from Tijuana where he won his last two starts over a muddy track. He is bound to prove dangerous if he has retained his best form and ! would not surprise by winning. WORTH-MAN likes this track and is a possibility. I SAM AN prefers a longer distance. REDSKIN— WILDRAKE— MEDDLING SETH. REDSKIN is tabbed to win the Al Jolson Handicap, at three-quarters mile. He was entered Wednesday, but was scratched. The distance today is all to his liking and we look for him to take the lead and hold it all the way. WILDRAKE turns in a good race every once in a while and today may be his day. He usually gets away fast so the I fact that he holds the inside post position should not bother him to any great extent. MED DUNG SETH is of the consistent s..rt, he winning more than his share of races at Havana and at Tampa. Track conditions matter little to him and he is bound to be close up when the finish is reached. JACK KNIGHT would prefer a firmer track. BAD LUCK was fairly consistent here last Fali, but failed to win a race, always landing in second or third place. AL 8TEBLER— INDIAN TALES— KUMONIN. AL STEBLER raced in good form to take second money in the opening race Thursday and would have to improve but little • here to prove the easiest winner of the day. j Ha likes the going and the distance is better suited to him, being at a mile and seventy ! yards. INDIAN TALES is always danger-| ous on a muddy track and rates as the one AL STEBLER has to beat. He was fairly | consistent at Tijuana and holds a good I chance in this field. KUMONIN turns in a good effort now and then and may be able to get the show end of the purse in this race. The others do not call for much. SEA GREEN— SUPER KING — WILLIAM DIGGINS. The closing event looks like a favorable spot for SEA GREEN. She rather likes the going and her workouts since arriving ! here from Tijuana indicate that she is ready for a winning trip. SUPER KING would prove dangerous if he raced in the same manner as his last start at Jefferson Park. The going may be somewhat against him today, but we look for him to be close up all the way. WILLIAM DIGGINS won the first race of the meeting and that effort should have put him on edge for todays race at a longer distance. If started, he will have to be reckoned with. SETTEE usualy shews well in the mud. GUS R prefers a fast track.
