SANOLA DISAPPOINTS Sain Mare Fails Backers in Fea ¬ ture Race at Aurora Jack Alexander Wins Orestes n nOutstays Outstays Glenister H for forSecond Second Place AURORA III May 13 Scoring his second straight victory H C McConnells Jack Alex ¬ ander ridden by jockey A Pendergrass ac ¬ counted for the Bugaboo Handicap principal attraction offered at Exposition Park Friday afternoon Orestes II raced into second place holding that position safe while B Creechs Glenister II racing in good form took the minor award Sanoa by virtue of her past races here when she showed extraordinary good form was installed the favorite The Sain mare was badly outpaced most of the distance and from a slow beginning raced in last place until after the halfmile post was reached Sanola then made up ground in the stretch and finished fast but was a con ¬ siderable distance back of the leaders and was badly beaten beatenOrestes Orestes II set the early pace and drew into an easy lead being four lengths in ad ¬ vance of the others entering the home stretch However the fainthearted gelding soon be ¬ gan to tire and Jack Alexander after having raced forwardly shook off Glenister II and finishing with a rush moved past Orestes II inside the last eighth and came to the finish a handy winner Orestes II outstayed Glenister II in a hard drive at the end Bookbinder raced coupled with Glenister II but was never a dangerous contender contenderCloudy Cloudy and threatening weather was in evidence and light showers fell previous to post time which dulled the going somewhat and the races were decided over a slow track Nevertheless another large crowd witnessed the sport and were fairly successful in their quest for winners winnersLOVE LOVE PIRATE REPEATS REPEATSThe The Battle Axe Stables Love Pirate racing In her best form scored her second straight victory in the opening race at threequarters C N Freemans Rocking just managed to outstay Fighting Cook for second place while in turn Fighting Cook just managed to down Erla Lee II for third place Erla Lee II got away fast at the start and proceeded to set the pace for the first quarter of a mile where Fighting Cook overhauled her and took the lead Fighting Cook succumbed to a challenge from Singing Cricket the lat ¬ ter then taking the lead Singing Cricket raced in the poorest going however and Love Pirate racing in the best part of the track was rushed up to the leaders and finishing fast got up near the end to down Rocking for the purse the latter holding Fighting Cook safe Singing Cricket quit badly in the last eighth and was far back at the end The latter was the favorite favoriteC C Irbys Shasta Love was returned the winner of the threequarters mile second race Joe Junior was the one to take sec ¬ ond place while Foretold wound up third It was a queerly run race with nearly all the starters taking a turn at leading Fallen Leaf set the pace for the first halfmile but entering the stretch Joe Junior took the lead when she tired However Joe Junior raced wide and could not hold his advantage Brumfield then raced up on the inside and showed the way Up and Down then passed and had her turn in front They were three sixteenths out when Shasta Love gradually caught and passed the leaders and came to the finish winner by a two lengths margin Brumfield and Up and Down were caught in the worst part of the going in the stretch where a bad spot lies next to the inner rail an eighth out and Joe Junior came again at the end overhauling them for second place while Foretold easily held them safe for the minor award
