Budds Derby Selections and Comment WHISKERY BOSTOJflAff FRED Jlk ROLLED STOCKING STOCKINGHarry Harry Payne Whitneys entry Whiskery and Bostonian appear to be the most solid horses of todays Kentucky Derby Both of them have shown their ability to carry stake weight and go the distance Whiskery had a lot taken out of him in trying to race Scapa Flow into defeat in the Preakness A different condition arises today There are several other horses entered that may help force the pace and Pony McAtee will reserve him for the stretch run Bostonian the winner of the Preakness is a natural route horse and an outside post position is an advantage to this sluggish beginner Most of the pacemakers are bound to come back to him Fred Jr has already demonstrated his route going ability and if jockey Burger gives him an intelligent ride he will prove the strongest kind of a contender Fred Jr is a long shot possibility Especially so if the track gets muddy Rolled Stocking has had a careful preparation for this race and if he can handle his stake weight he will be a dangerous factor
