JAMAICA CARD ORDINARY Montana Handicap Attracts Best Field of Afternoon Brown Bad Wins from False Pride In Close CloseFinish Finish with Jim Crow Third Crowd CrowdUp Up to Midweek Arerage NEW YORK N T May 13 It was card without a great deal of quality that was offered at Jamaica Friday and there were few top notchers among the starters The place of honor was given the Montana Handicap a sprint race for threeyearolds and eight went to the post Brown Bud got up in the final strides to take the purse from False Pride while Jim Crow was a tiring third thirdThere There was not more than a nose difference between the first two but False Pride had wo lengths margin over Jim Crow It was a close finish and Jim Crow made an effort o stay in the front but he ran wide enter ¬ ing the stretch and raced like a tired horse horseCharade Charade was going fast in the last eighth but the Butler filly had lost considerable ground in the earlier stages after getting away with the leaders and could not regain t Cross Word was another that was gain ¬ ing in the run for home homeMarylander Marylander got in close quarters at the ar turn and was never prominent afterward while Sun Forward was outclassed and bore out in the stretch stretchThe The crowd was up to the average that has been maintained throughout the meeting meetingMoboz Moboz was best among the platers that faced the barrier in the opener and he was under restraint until the turn into the stretch when Kelsay brought him up on the outside and at the end he was drawing away with plenty of speed in reserve Fourteen Sixty made the pace up to the final quarter and outraced Leatherwood and The Vintner but he did not have the speed in the final test testTHE THE VINTNER QUITS QUITSLeatherwood Leatherwood was first to leave the barrier and raced prominently all the way but he was tiring and under punishment in the last eighth The Vintner quit after he had given his best in the early stages Shannon Shore was going fast in the stretch but he was unable to get up Don Bpnero was never with the leaders and Huffy was slowing after five furlongs had been passed passedJames James Fitzsimmons sent out a much im ¬ proved racer in Belair Studs Sun Hawk which was an easy victor in the second event of the afternoon The Star Hawk colt as ¬ sumed command right at the start and at the first turn went out well in front and McAuliffe had him under restraint until the turn for home where Fator made a strong effort to get up with the Rancocas Stables Grange but the Wildair gelding was not good enough enoughAccount Account stuck close to Grange until the far turn but was beaten there and after the turn for home the Edward Staats Luther hope yielded to Junetta and lost ground steadily from that point finishing among the trailers Junetta was coming along with lots of speed at the end endDISQUALIFICATION DISQUALIFICATION IN THIRD THIRDThere There was a disqualification in the third race when Martha Martin which finished first was set back and the purse awarded to Myra M Martha Martin was close to the leaders from the start and after the turn for home Fields sent her up fast but it was evident that she had interfered with Myra M which had been speedy and saved ground under a rather good ride by Barcene the colored jockey Fields was set down for the balance of the meeting meetingMorgold Morgold had some speed and came strong on the outside soon after they got away from the barrier and had something left at the finish but was not able to get up to the first pair Grace H was away fast but showed little speed and until the final fur ¬ long when she showed a second burst of speed that came too late lateGnome Gnome Girl was favorite but she was knocked back at the very beginning and Fator could not get her through the field until the turn for home when she came fast but could not close the gap The disquali ¬ fication was the second of the meeting the first one being adjudged to Madlyn on May 10
