LUCKY FOR DOCTOR WILSON Fortunate in Winning the Green ¬ field Claiming Stakes Adlos First In Chatham Handicap SiiH Forward a Surprise Three Horses Go DOWTI In Second Ilacc NEW YORK N Y May 1C Doctor Wil son from the Canyon Stable scored a lucky luckyvictory victory in the running of the Greenfield GreenfieldClaiming Claiming Stakes the Monday feature at Ja jiiaica when he led home the Greentree GreentreeStables Stables Ephesian and OurAdele the filly fillythat that races for Jadell Stable The score was wasa a luckj one for the reason that Our Adele Adelehad had virtually no chance when the barrier rose and then when she closed a big gap and was running over horses she was carried carriedwide wide on the stretch turn The Greenfield was wasa a fiveeighths dash for juveniles and was wasworth worth 4000 to the winner winnerEarlier Earlier in the day the sport was marred by an accident in the running of the second race in which three horses fell and as a result Captain Kidd was disqualified and the race awarded Vagabond King The three to fall were Belle of the Rocks Gussie Bain and Partner and the jockeys were G Rose G Arnold and Eddie Barnes Both Arnold and Barnes escaped injury while Rose after an examination was made comfortable at I the track hospital and found to be slightly injured In the Greenfield there was a slight delay at the post and Our Adele was handled by one of the trackmen As the barrier rose she hung so badly as to be almost left while Aster and Ephesian jumped out to set the pace with Doctor Wilson following them closely closelyFrom From being lengths out of the running Burke worked on Our Adele and she made up ground in gallant fashion when once un ¬ der way She was taken around on the out ¬ side of the field to escape possible interfer ¬ ence and just as she drew up to almost a con ¬ tending position she was carried out badly by Doctor Wilson WilsonIn In the meantime Aster and Ephesian were fighting it out and the latter had the Living ¬ ston colt beaten an eighth out Then Fator brought Doctor Wilson along with his win ¬ ning rush that landed him winner by a length and a half while Ephesian just beat Aster a head for second place and Our Adele after all her misfortune was fourth As the race was run it seemed that she was only beaten by reason of bad racing luck luckOXLY OXLY THREE STARTERS STARTERSThe The Chatham a handicap at threequanters of a mile that was the fourth offering on the days card only brought out three start ¬ ers but it resulted in a firstclass contest with Adios from the Greentree Stable lead jng home Frank Browns Titan and Water J Salmons Powhatan Titan was the one to set the pace but Adios raced right along with him while Towhatan trailed at the heels of the pair and under slight restraint Arnold was con ¬ tent to race with Titan to the head of the stretch and there when Powhatan moved lie called on Adios and after a sharp brush he put Titan away and through the last eighth he was easily master masterPqwhatan Pqwhatan tired when called on and Titan stuck it out to save second place The race was a swiftlyrun one when 1 11 was the time hung out outOne One of the best races of the day was the mile and a sixteenth of the Forest Hills Handicap in which J P Smiths Sun For ivard displayed an altogether new form to stick it out resolutely and win with some ¬ thing to spare over Crossfire from the Log Cabin Stud Stable with L H Rowes Sepoy rather a distant third and Bonnie Maginn fourth Crossfire was rushed out to make the pace and Ellis went after him with Sun For vvard McAtee had Sepoy rating along in third place and he was soon joined by Needle Gun while Bonnie Maginn was last but galloping strongly and well under restraint restraintIt It was threeeighths from home that Mc ¬ Atee made his move with Sepoy and he sent him to Crossfire and Sun Forward At the same time Needle Gun moved up with a rush until they were all closely lapped and fight ¬ ing along as they approached the finish line lineThis This did not last long and Sun Forward drew out slightly Crossfire had saved ground oriythe turn and he was much in the running An eighth out McAtee was hard at work on Sepoy but the son of Wrack had given up his best and he tired badly while Sun Forward was holding Crossfire perfectly safe in the run to home homeThe The race was something of a surprise in the light of recent races in which Sun For vard had not shown an ability to race even six furlongs furlongsCAPTAIN CAPTAIN KIDI DISQUALIFIED DISQUALIFIEDThe The falls that came with the running of the second race were blamed on J OBrien who rode Captain Kidd from the B B Stable and by his disqualification the Mira sol Stables Vagabond King was made win ¬ ner with the Jamesons Mohammed Jamal second and H K Bliss War Queen third This race was over the mile and seventy yards distance and early in the action War Queen found her way to the command and she was the one to cut out the running to the head of the stretch where she was joined by both Vagabond King and Captain Kidd and in the drive home Captain Kidd proved to have more left when he was first by a narrow margin and Mohammed namcl while a distant third beat the tired War Queen for that part of the purse purseThe The falls came just before the horses reached the threeeighths post At that time Captain Kidd was moving up with a rush on the outside As he raced along he bore over there was a piling up of the runners and Belle of the Rocks racing on the inside went down with little G Rose Gussie Bain close after the filly fell over her with G Arnold and then Partner stumbled into the mess and fell witli Eddie Barnes BarnesBoth Both Barnes and Arnold were quickly up none the worse for the fall while Rose had to be brought back in the ambulance and it was feared he had been badly hurt hurtAfter After the finish both Olirien who rode Captain Kidd and McAuliffe who had the mount on Vagabond King were called into thf stand and later came the disqualification of Ca tin Kidd KiddAs As a punishment for his rough riding that brought about the falls OBrien was sus ¬ pended for the remaining two days of the meeting
