GREY LAG IN TRAINING NEW YORK N Y May 16 Grey Lag for two years rated the best horse in train ¬ ing and the pride of the Rancocas Stable is training again and galloping every morn ¬ ing at Belmont Park This son of Star Shoot had many notable battles with Ex ¬ terminator when that gelding was it his best Their fight in the Brooklyn Handicap will not soon be forgotten On that occasion I Old Slim gave Grey Lag weight and took him into camp The presence of Grey Lag will add much to the autumn races It will be interesting to see how the chestnut horse shapes up with Crusader Chance Play and other good horses of the present day Grey Lag is now nine years old He has not raced since 1923 when as a fiveyearold he won four of his five starts He is a chestnut son of Star Shoot Miss Minnie by Meddler He was bred by John E Madden His first crop of foals are now of racing age One of his sons is a gelding from Regret the only filly that ever won the Kentucky Derby This one has been well named being called Repnter
