FOKECLOSE improved her position fteadily while racing on the outside "and overtook the leaders in the last eighth to win going away. 1IABKY B. was away slowly, but gradually closed a big gap and finished close up. HASTY MISS raced well under good riding, saved ground where possible and finished fast. DEADFALL raced into the lead in the first quarter and showed .the most speed to the stretch, then tired and quit badly. PONCE showed early speed and also tired. HIGH LIFE, away slowly, closed up much ground while racing on the outside, then saved ground n the stretch turn and, soon passing the leaders, won going away. GRAPESTONE showed a -good order of speed and raced close up throughout. SHASTA BOCK came fast in the stretch and- got- up n the last strides to nose out TUIPLETT. The latter began tiring in the final drive. FOXMOBE raced into a good lead in the first half mile, but was done in the stretch, quitting badly.
