. LEADING AMERICAN JOCKEYS V. Petersons continuous good work in tho saddle finally placed him in second place among the thirty leading jockeys, with a good chance of overtaking L. Hardy. The latter had what appeared to be an overwhelming lead a few weeKs-back, but Petersons brilliant display of horsemanship has cut down this big lead until at the end of last week the leader had only twenty-three more winning mounts than Peterson. The latter rode eight horses to victory during tho six days of racing, but was second to Mack Garner and T. Pascuma, who scored with nine of their mounts. I Hardy, the leader, and G. Johnson, in third place, could do no more than get two of their mounts first past the finish. C. Yates had a good week, riding seven winners.
