BOWIE TRACK NOTES "1 i 8 BOWIE. Md., April 6. Three claims were deposited in the seventh race Thursday, two for Scotland Forever by J. Miller and W. Hoffman, and one for Hoi Polloi. Miller was the successful claimant of the former. In each instance the claiming price was ,500. Stanmore was claimed by C. R. Aldrich for a like amount. After being breezed this morning ratricia J. shied at a piece of paper and, striking herself on her leg. cut an artery which bled profusely. Leo Meyers, who suffered painful injuries as a result of an automobile accident during the Fair Grounds meeting in New Orleans, was an arrival. Dr. H. J. McCarthy announced a sale to he held in the paddock at Bowie on April 14, when seven of the G. D. Widener horses will be sold. Two jockey.T came under the displeasure of the starter yesterday. J. J. McTague was given three days and H. Fisher five days on the ground. R. Smallwood is a busy agent these days. He has five jockeys under his wing making the engagements of L. Morris, B. Ray, M. Fishman. H. Thomas and Gilbert Blockhead. Bob Freund had thirty horses -t the gate at Havre de Grace this morning including the big band that Carl Utz wintered at the Dupont farm in Virginia. Frank Garrett shipped the six Hildur two-year-olds he wintered at Pimlico for Roddy P. Marshall over to Havre de Grace, where they will be seen in action. Typhoon, accompanied b.v Bulletin, worked three-eighths this morning in :35. Charles H., a Preakness Stakes candidate, went five-eighths in 1 o-f- Joe Rowan, who has signed to train the R. V. Cushman band, was an arrival from New York. H.- brought over his promising apprentice G. Seabo, who will ride during the remainder of the meeting. Ral Parr, whese band comprises the steeplechaser Kangaroo and Backrope, will strengthen his stable. He made an unsuccessful effort to purchase the promising three-year-old Corporal yesterday. Destcr Collins and Dr. R. W. Carter of Morristown, N. J., were interesting spectators. While riding High Hope yesterday, jockey ! F. J. Jiaki-r was struck in the eye with a clod, which accounted for pulling his mourn up. R. I. Miller made his first appearance at Bowie this afternoon. His horses, which are being looked after by Harry Rites, are still at Pimlico. Mrs. Miller, in whose name they ran. died in Washington about a month ago. Mose Goldblatt stopped off at Bowie on his way from the Harry Payne Whitney farm • at Brookdale. New Jersey. He will remain for a few days before returning to Ken- ■ tucky. A division of the Whitney horses will ! »■ shipped to Goldblatt in Kentucky later. I J. A. Bowers took the two-year-old Oncora • from the opening race for ,700. In the second race, R. A. Johnson claimed the winner. Highland Chief, for ,500, while Sir Barley, the beaten favorite, was taken by F. Rhodes for ,500.
