GOULASH worked bis way up steadily Mi the outside and, finishing with a rush through the stretch, got up to win in the final few strides. HIGH HOPE showed the most speed from the start and raced X.OK into defeat, but was unable to withstand the winners rush. IGOR took second place when turning into the stretch, but tired. ROONEY, caught in close quarters at the start, made np ground and finished resoluely. FAIR GOLD was in close quarters in the stretch. SUN KIN could never reach the leaders. LUCIE DUNBAR showed early speed. OMINOUS weaved his way to the leaders in the early running, came on the outside when entering the home stretch and, taking the lead at the eighth post, held BLAZE safe. The latter raced close up, saved ground where possible and made a game finish. CASTING improved bis position steadily, but c-ould never reach the two leaders. AL KRIPP finished fast from a slow beginning. LAWLESS ran poorlv. CAROL and BLUEMONT raced each other into exhaustion and quit. WRAP raced close up the outside and made a challenge after rounding the stretch turn, but tired in the final drive. AVIATRIX passed the tiring BALZAR in the final eighth. AFTEBCLOW set a good pace under slight restraint, withstood challenges from GOLDEN SPIRE and BLACK PRIAM and held FLY HAWK safe at the finish. FLY HAWK secured a wide opening on the inside after rounding the far turu and finished gamely, but could not overtake the winner. BLACK FRIAR raced wide in the early running while under stiff restraint and fell back after going seven-eighths. LA MORTE was always outrun.
