BUYS CLAPTRAP FOR STUD LEXINGTON, Ky., May 17.— Leslie E. Keif-fer, master of the Inverness Stud at Monk-ton, Maryland, today bought the six-year-old bay horse Claptrap, by Fair Play, "from the imported mare Catalpa, by Tracery, grand dam imported Cattish, by Melton, and will place him in the stud at his establishment. The purchase was made from the Arden Farms, owned by W. A. Harriman, through Adolphe Pons, agent. This son of Fair Play had been leased to Mr. Keiffer for stud purposes about a month ago. Claptrap is a full brother to Catalan, now in the stud at Reid Rileys Farm in Virginia. Claptrap defeated Crusader as a three-year-old and was in training this year until M»e time he was sent to the Inverness Stud, having won his only start, which was at Miami.
