and representative of the Audley Farm Reveille Boy was six lengths ahead of W Hoffmans Longus and Thistle Ann under the colors of George Col Jins was fourth fourthThe The running time was 2 04 speed throughout and closed fast although he was unable to get near the winner winnerIX IX CO VI CIXG STYLE STYLEThere There was nothing to the running of the feature but Gallant Knight for he assumed the lead shortly after the start and widened his advantage as the race progressed For the first half mile Sydney was the one to follow in closest pursuit of the ultimate win ¬ ner followed by Thistle Ann and By Product with Ned O running far in the rear of his field fieldRounding Rounding the stretch turn Gallant Knight increased his advantage until he had a six lengths lead There was a general closing up behind him with Reveille Boy taking the place of Sydney as runnerup and This ¬ tle Ann in third position Ned O had begun to close some ground but it was quite evident then that he would cut no figure in the final placings placingsIn In the stretch run Gallant Knight was merely breezing in front of his company and if his rider had elected to do so could have made his margin of victory more than the six lengths he enjoyed at the end Reveille Boy was standing a hard drive from M Rose gallantly but could make no im ¬ pression on the winners advantage but he too had a six lengths lead on Longus LongusThe The race brought together a field of eight the withdrawals having been Judge Dixon and Skibo SkiboTREMENDOUS TREMENDOUS CROAVD CROAVDThe The track was fast and conditions entirely suitable for the decision of an event that has attracted more attention perhaps than any race ever run at Fairmount Park A tremendous crowd turned out from St Louis and many points in the surrounding territory territoryThe The mutuel handle on the Fairmount Derby this year was 87930 compared with 59218 in 1929 1929The The program was decided over a fast track weather predictions being as forecast and even surpassing anticipations for the sun shone brightly and its rays served to tem ¬ per the atmosphere chilled by north winds that blew over the course courseMany Many of the spectators arrived at the track early and were on hand to witness some of the thoroughbreds go through their morning paces The highways were con ¬ gested with motor cars from noon on and parking space was at a premium as early as 1 oclock General manager Eddy however had made provisions for the overflow and the situation was well taken care of ofNine Nine of the overnight eligibles started Frankie Seremba being the only owner de ¬ clining to try for the prize It was with deep regret that the exjockey withdrew Judge Dixon but subsequent trials to his sood work of last week were not satisfac Continued ou threequarters first race Betty Dean making the second start of her ca ¬ reer raced to the place in advance of Pani vana who was up in the final strides to nose out Thelma L for third moneyv moneyvThe The winner a rather consistent performer was rushed into the lead which he main ¬ tained under slight restraint Hanford never had to put him to urging to hold the Dr W E Coover representative safe The lat ¬ ter was the cause of Scotland Girl being forced back as the horses rounded the stretch turn and the latter might have been a more serious contender with clear racing room Betty Browning came in for good support but failed to show any of the speed that gained her a victory in her previous en ¬ gagement and finished far in the rear rearJockey Jockey A Belyski guided the R C Stables Forecaster to his second consecutive victory when he led home E E Watsons Broomoney and the favorite King Halma which finished second and third respectively respectivelyThe The winner was rather slow in finding his stride and young Belyski used good judge ¬ ment in not rushing him It was not until they had traveled half the threequarters distance that he moved up into contention Continuing with good speed he drew by the leaders to be home winner by six lengths Broomoney also was one of the laggards dur ¬ ing the early racing and while he gained he did so with a great saving of ground to make his bid for honors but was no match for the winner King Halma led Dodie Leigh ton home by three lengths for his placing placingMiles Miles Prior grouped in the field with Flora Levy and George Van S was a late at any stage of the journey but Hanford who was on his second winner of the afternoon elected to hold him restrained until reaching the stretch It also marked a double for owner J H Edward and trainer Mitchell who had sent The Moon out to win the first race raceThe The aged Alex Woodliffe started out to make a runaway of the race and attained a good early lead but the colorbearer of Miss E T Fullerton was no match for the winner though outlasting Classy for the place El frieda G was the disappointment in this and never figured seriously in the running runningA A dull performance by Mrs W J Pot ¬ ters Bocaratone and the improvement of C Graffagninis Beau Wrack were the prin ¬ cipal factors in the running of the one mile and seventy yards fourth race when the latter led throughout to be home a length in advance of the Audley Farms Banner Bright which got the place from Corbeau CorbeauThe The winner came in for stout support and ruled second choice at post time timeThe The smart play was vindicated when the son of Wrack showed high speed in the pace making and never left the final result in doubt Banner Bright made a game bid but he was badly outpaced although he easily scored over Corbeau for second hon ¬ ors The latter raced far out of conten ¬ tion during the early stages and it appeared as if he would be hopelessly beaten but gained rapidly after reaching the stretch and collared the faltering Bocaratone and beat him to the wire wireRedcliffe Redcliffe was another that was well sup ¬ ported and failed to repeat his brilliant per ¬ formance when he bowed to the prowess of George Collins Patricia Marian and failed to get into serious contention at any time during the running Master Star was away tardily and this eliminated him himThomas Thomas Seth scored in the St Louis Times Purse fifth event on the card when he car ¬ ried the colors of Nugent Brothers to a well earned victory downing the favorite Water Lad after a brief stretch duel Selection raced to third place after closing a good gap gapApprentice Apprentice G Cimerak had the mount on the winner and put up a great finish to land the Nugent representative winner Sen ¬ ator Seth was the first to
