at this track was soundly trounced by Break of Dawn in the fifth and feature race Break of Dawn won by slightly more than a length while Morsun was second and Little Gyp finished third thirdMorsun Morsun on past performances seemed to stand out and regardless of the fact that the inexperienced jockey Baltimore had the mount the public flocked to his support and made him a shortpriced choice Morsun had no excuses and was beaten by a better horse The son of Morvich which now races for Lewis Kemp beat the others away from the barrier and after racing American Thun ¬ der into submission obtained a good lead and was clear in the stretch but Break of Dawn which began in fifth place saved ground on the turns and going into the stretch next the inner rail wore down Morsun and won going away Jockey J Redding for a short time Amer ¬ icas leading rider had the mount on Break of Dawn It was the lads first saddle ap ¬ pearance in two weeks and he showed that he had benefited by his vacation by putting up a splendid ride He was substituted for J Mulrooney when the latter was injured injuredThe The race was run in the fast tifne of 1 QGVs QGVsTHACK THACK I3IPROYES I3IPROYESThe The track was a couple of seconds slow to start off the afternoon but improved as the day wore on and was fast for the running of the feature which was named the Albert Ladner Purse Despite the cool weather the crowd was one of the best that has attended the races during the session and as the ma ¬ jority were speculatively inclined the mutuel department was the scene of much activity It is estimated that 12000 saw the curtain rung down on Exposition Park racing until late fall when a shorter session will be held heldSalta Salta was the winner of the first race but owner Chapman did not profit by his sucpess The entire purse went to Roy Williams a popular turf veteran who has been ill in the Aurora Hospital for some time Kentucky Babe the favorite could do no better than finish third while Night Run after leading most of the way lasted to be second The race was over six furlongs and jockey P Keiser who rode the winner as well as the other pilots in the race donated their services to the good cause Salta saved ground on the stretch turn to wear the early leaders down downJockey Jockey Mulrooney rode the favored Johnny Agee to victory in the second race but he was forced to exercise all his skill to land that animal home in front Johnny Agee had things much his own way in the early stakes and opened up a long lead after going a quarter but tired badly in the last sixteenth and would have been relegated to third place in a few more strides Both Carloman and Voshell which finished second and third respectively finished fast and were gaining rapidly on the winner A field of twelve went to the post postMULROONEY MULROONEY IjVJUKED IjVJUKEDJockey Jockey J Mulrooney was forced to cancel his mount on Take a Chance and also his remaining engagements during the day when he was kicked by one of the other starters as the field was en route to the post Mul ¬ rooney dismounted and was taken to the jockey room in the track ambulance where upon examination it was found that he had sustained a foot injury He was removed to an Aurora hospital and will have the injured member Xrayed XrayedThe The race was held up for many minutes while a rider was secured for Take a Chance When the belated animal finally arrived at the barrier starter Morrissey effected a quick start and Watch On showed in front imme ¬ diately That sprinter scored her third vic ¬ tory of the meeting when she led all the way to win by three lengths from Gibbons This pair were much the best and outran their opponents all the way Hoatzin an outsider raced to third place placeCalgary Calgary Kay showed a fine performance in winning the fourth race The race was over six furlongs and the Chapman gelding followed Bright Flash the pacemaker closely in the early stages to wear her down in the run home Bright Flash though tiring lasted to retain second place and Shift was a fast going third Despite the fact that the track was not at its best the winner raced the threequarters in 113 Calgary Kay was ridden by jockey Keiser and it was the second success of the afternoon for that pilot pilotJack Jack Alexander with jockey McLaughlm in the saddle was much the best of the small band that started in the sixth race The winner was at no time called upon to give his best and going to the front with ease when half the trip had been completed opened up a long lead and was running easily at the finish Richu ran gamely to be a fast going second and Mary McClain finished in third place Red Spider disap ¬ pointed by showing a dull effort
