PURPLE ROBE showed the most speed throughout, withstood a bold challenge from JACK COLLINS when straightened out in the stretch and drew clear near the end. JACK COLLINS closed fast on the far turn, then tired alter getting up entering the stretch. JOAN G. came again and outstayed the others. PLAY FURIOUS gained steadily. CHARBUEL began in a jam, but closed much ground. VANDION and MATTHEW tired, as did EXPIATE. The latter was a factor to the stretch, then tired. CHRIS. PASCHEN closed a big gap in the last half mile and finished fast. CALWICK drew away into a long lead after rounding the far turn, but raced to the outside on the stretch turn, losing much ground and tired. SHASTA LOVE closed ground. The others were outrun. TEMPUS displayed keen speed from the start and, finishing courageously, shook off FRED ALMY during the last sixteenth. FRED ALMY raced on the outside of the winner all the way, weakened near the end, but was easily best of the balance. THUNDERTONE worked his way up next to the inner rail through the stretch and finished strongly. CLOIDO raced on the outside of his opposition most of the way, but finished resolutely. VACATION steadily improved his position while racing on the outside of his field and, continuing gamely through the stretch, wore down the leaders in the last few yards. CORBEAU came stoutly next to the inner rail during the run home and headed NORSE in the closins strides. NORSE raced up into contention entering the stretch and finished courageously. FAIR BETH closed much ground from a slow beginning. GIDEON went well to the stretch, then tired. The others tired. Scratched— 60177Aurica, 106. Overweicht— Title Oak, 1 pound. PATRICIA MARIAN closed up strongly in the run home and outstayed LA BELOTTE in the final test. LA BELOTTE was a forward factor all the way, but weakened in the closing stages. GULLY JUMPER raced into contention approaching the stretch turn and held on fairly well. ATHENS was bumped by MAGIC CARPET and knocked off her stride midway of the stretch, then tired. ICARUS set the pace to the stretch tuni, tired thereafter, but held the others safe. DIXIE DAN began from the extreme outside and raced on the outside throughout.
