COLT MOWRIS SERIOUSLY ILL Mowris, the big bay colt by Lucullite Adelia II., by Helicon, and purchased by J. H. Manheimer of Chicago at the last Rancocas sale at a good price, is suffering with blood poison caused by a puncture, and fever, while running in the paddock on the Manheimer estate at Barrington, 111. Dr. J. M. Kaiser, the Chicago track veterinarian, is in constant attendance, and is non-committal as to the outcome of the case at the present time, claiming that a septic infection with a temperature of 104 is considered very serious. Mowris is the pride of the stable now wintering in these parts and consisting of War Time, Hour Girl, Moderation, Aleader and Prevail, the latter will be bred to a few selected mares this season, while a number of good two-year-olds will be added to the stable.
