LITTLE GERTIE, having speed from the start and rated under steady restraint for five-eighths, rallied to mild urging after reaching the stretch, but weakened and was under pressure near the end. CHAT EAGLE, rated close to the early pace, could not get to the winner, but held on well. BICHLORIDE, a strong factor throughout, closed well. TEA TAX began slowly, saved ground at the turn and closed stoutly, but could not get up. EATEMUP had speed, saved ground and weakened. SINGLE STRIPE quit after going a half mile. PERFECT DREAM met interference when moving up and never recovered. POPO, going in dull form, was always far back. LUCKY JACK, unable to keep up, dropped far out of it, responded strongly in the final quarter and, lucky to get through near the end, got up in the final strides. FULL UP had speed, was lightly restrained for a half mile and held on well under pressure. LOUIE DEAR, up close and under strong restraint from the start, was sharply cut off by FULL UP nearing the final eighth and again failing to get through on the inside in the final sixteenth, finished with speed in reserve and might have been best. JAZ AGE had speed, lost some ground and weakened slightly near the end. OIL QUEEN raced well. NUSAKAN could not get to the leaders and appeared to sulk under pressure. COLONIAL BELLE, taken into the lead and rated under restraint for three-quarters, continued well under strong urging thereafter and had little left. BAR HUNTER, under stout restraint for three-quarters, closed well under punishment and wore down VERY WELL in the final strides. The latter showed speed from the start, saved ground and went gamely in the final drive. PIGEON HOLE, allowed to remain out of it for five-eighths, lost much ground at the stretch turn and closed resolutely, but, could not get up. SEARINGTON raced well. SHEPHERD BOY, well up from the start, saved ground until reaching the stretch, where he bore out and, closing fast when straightened up, would have headed the winner in another stride. JOURNEYS END, forced to lose ground throughout and well up for a half mile, faltered in the stretch, but was best of the others. SWEEPERMAN, slow to get going, never threatened. FLYING CADET, never far back and under restraint for a half mile, bore out when beginning to move up at the stretch turn, quickly wore down FRIEND CHARLEY and, holding on well withstood BALLYGRAN. The latter, away well and having speed, was forced back at the far turn, lost ground entering the stretch and raced gamely under hard urging the last three-sixteenths. FRIEND CHARLEY, under light weight, had speed, raced MISS BRILLIANT into submission and tired badly in the final eighth. SPICSON began slowly. PEACE LADY, away slowly but under energetic riding throughout, gradually improved her position and, getting through on the inside, outfinished BLUE CLOUD. The latter, well handled, had speed, responded to urging and, while failing to get to the leaders, held on well. VONAIR showed a good effort. SCIMITAR, placed on the outside at the start, lost much ground and, beginning slowly, could not get up. MRS. FOSTER had no mishap. OUTCRY quit.
