OMAHA TO START IN WITHERS SATURDAY -----------------------4 NEW YORK, N. T., May 23 Omaha, William Woodwards winner of the Kentucky Derby and the Preakness, has been working nicely for his engagement in the Withers, the famous old stake to be decided at Belmont Park Saturday. The son of Gallant Fox has been kept on edge by Fitzsimmons since his return from Pimlico, and Thursday morning he was sent along in company with Gallant Prince for an easy six furlongs in 1:15. The Greentree .Stables Plat Eye, the greatest rival of the Woodward champion in the Withers, had his final at Belmont Park. Brennan sent the son of Chicle and Crazy Moon along for a mile in 1:40. He did not work as, cheerfully as might have been desired, and was driven out at the end of the trial, but his most recent race pronounced him ready. Rosemont, from the Foxcatcher Farm Stable of William Dupont, was driven out a mile in 1:40. This colt seems to be ready but on his last meeting with Plat Eye it would seem the Greentree colt holds him safe. Elmer Dale Shaffers St. Bernard, which quit in his last race, went along for a mile in 1:40, and he seemed to have all his speed. Another eligible that was out was Special Agent, from the Brookmeade Stable, and he was sent along by Bob Smith for an easy mile in 1:42. It is probable that each of these will be sent to the post in the Withers Saturday.
