AURORA TURF NOTES j Tom Devereaux, who has nominated Just Frank for the Illinois Derby, was an arrival from Hot Springs with twelve head which will be campaigned at Aurora. Jockey Charlie Parvin was an arrival and bedded down six stalls for the arrival of the advance guard of Benny Creechs horses, which came over from the Naper-ville farm. The remainder of the Creech horses will come from Texas. The four new barns being erected at Aurora, which comprise fifty stalls each, will be ready for the receipt of horses by the time the Arlington meeting closes on April 25. There are some fifteen Chicago-owned three-year-olds which are prospects for the Kentucky Derby and Preakness, as well as the Illinois Derby, which will be run on May 22. In addition to these, the following already have been nominated for the Illinois event, which carries an added value of 2,000: Rushaway, Reaping, Professor Paul, Holl Image, Flag Cadet, Lolschen Palm Island, Lovely Spy and Just Frank. The nominations close on May 15. Rome Respess made application for ten head, according to a wire received by racing secretary Leigh. The Three Ds Stable have nominated ten, which will be campaigned here at the beginning of the meeting. The new mutuel plant, which has just been completed, covers a total of 419 feet over all on a straight line. It has fifty-eight seller windows, fifty-five cashiers and fifteen "Daily Doubles." Track superintendent Placide Frigerio had his force of men out working on the track Thursday morning cutting drains and getting the course in shape for the workouts. Jim Farley was the first of the dockers to arrive, followed by Charlie Peterson. Some of the applications on file for stable room include the horses of George Collins, A. G. Tarn, B. Hernandez, C. Troutt, Clarence Davison, Benny Creech, L. M. Severson, A. Gaignard, E!. K. Bryson, W. C. Reichert, Jim Chesney, Jesse Burks, Chappel Brothers, R. A. Coward, Marl T. Cox, L. Chambers, Dave Christian, Dr. C. N. Finch, Ross Hig-don, Mrs. J. Hubbard, Otto Bagley and others. The Bahr starting gate was unloaded Wednesday and will be ready for Johnny Morrissey when he starts schooling May 15 at the Fox Valley course. Joe Foley, Chicago publicity man, was a visitor Thursday and was much impressed with the new improvements made at Aurora, epsecially with the resurfacing of the track. He said it would make a big hit with the incoming horsemen. Hotel accommodations at Aurora already are at a premium and business in general here looks better than at any time in the last six years, according to local merchants. Otto Bagley and Dave Christian wired they will ship two carloads from Hot Springs next Wednesday.
