BRILLIANT TEXAS CARD Frontier Handicap at Arlington Supported by Three Good Races. The Fighter and He Did Meet in Taylor Purse Over One Mile and Seventy Yards. ARLINGTON, Texas, April 10. Although brilliant and attractive programs have been offered regularly since the start of the Texas Jockey Clubs spring season, one that far surpasses any of the current meeting and on a par with those of other leading tracks of America, is arranged for tomorrow at palatial Arlington Downs. Surrounded by no less than three supporting attractions that bring together the leading eligibles for the Texas Derby, the top-notch juveniles that have enjoyed winter and spring racing, and a sprinting handicap that attracted the foremost of that division, the Frontier Handicap, in which a field of thirteen will strive for the ,000 added purse, engages by far the best field of any of the stakes to be offered since the opening. Although Time Supply is missing from the Frontier Handicap, which was advertised as the Dallas Spring Handicap, such brilliant performers as Harry C. Hatchs Ariel Cross, Milky Way Farms Whiskolo, Mrs. A. M. Creechs Sound Advice, T. C. Wordens Billy Jones, winner of his seven starts this year, H. C. Rumages Our Count, Sarada and Martin Barton, are among those named for the mile and one-sixteenth journey. Ariel Cross is the top weight of the field under 116 pounds. In his first and only start here he defeated a splendid band of sprinters and has since worked a good mile. Whiskolo is another to be successful in his one and only start here and the same is true of Billy Jones. They follow Ariel Cross in the line of weights, with 115 pounds each, Continued on eighteenth page. BRILLIANT TEXAS CARD Continued from first page. and Sound Advice is next with 114 pounds. The weights scale down to ninetynine pounds, which was allotted Jay Vee and Garden Message. Crofter, a stablemate of Ariel Cross, also will carry the Hatch colors and the Corsicana and Tarn entry is composed of Wacoche and Martin Barton. The long awaited meeting of Milky Way Farms The Fighter and Mrs. Silas B. Masons He Did will take place in the Taylor Purse, for three-year-olds, which will be decided at one mile and seventy yards. Rush-away, winner of the Louisiana Derby under the colors of A. G. Tarn, also is among the. field of nine. Ttennob, a dark horse for Texas Derby honors, which disappointed in his only start here, will attempt to make amends for that effort. Due to his brilliant victory in the Santa Anita Derby, He Did will carry the top burden of 122 pounds. Rushaway comes next under 118 pounds, and Doran, a stablemate of The Fighter, will carry 112 pounds. The Fighter is equally weighted with Ttennob, under 109 pounds, and then follows Miss Bam, also a Tarn eligible, with 104 pounds. Miss Diavolos assignment is 101 pounds and Irish Ford and Tugboat Frank were allotted 100 pounds each. In the event He Did is successful he will be installed the choice for the Derby, but should he be defeated it will take nothing from him. In the Derby he will carry the top weight of 126 pounds, but his opponents will not receive such a liberal difference in the weights. Although The Fighters two stake victories here were at sprint distances, he breezed a good mile this week ,and trainer McGar-vey has repeatedly stated that he believed that the colt was capable of carrying his speed any distance. It will be Rushaways debut here and, although the son of Haste established a new track record in winning the Louisiana Derby, the field behind him had confined most of their racing to claiming events. Miss Diavolo is the only member of the field not eligible for the local classic. Resident manager Trav Daniels stated today that reservations for tomorrow far exceeded those of any day since the opening and that in the event of a continuation of the suny weather, he expected the largest crowd of the meeting.
