MODESTO, away slowly and forced to lose ground when improving her position, moved up fast after a half mile, forged to the front nearing the final three-eighths, drew away rapidly and won easily. MAEBEE worked her way forward steadily, responded fast after three-quarters, but tired near the end. CAPTAIN RED, a strong factor from the start, held on well. BOURBON ROSE, outrun for three-quarters, closed with a rush. BUGABOO, shuffled back at the far turn, made up ground in the drive. STAR BROOM and GREENSTONE quit. MICHIGAN LAD lost its rider when in close quarters next to the rail approaching the final quarter. Overweight Macbee, 4 pounds; Bourbon Rose, 5. Corrected weight Bugaboo, 116.
