INNOVATIONS AT TOM WOOD Electricity in Every Stable and Shelves in Boxes Handy Receptacles Certain to Meet With Approval of Public Tower of Babel the Nerve Center CenterEfficient Efficient operation of a complicated mod ¬ ern race track will be stressed during the Washington Park meeting opening May 24 it was learned today from president Walter IJ Gregory of the Washington Park Jockey Club ClubSo So intricate have modern race plants be ¬ come that a more vigilant watch must be kept to see that everything moves smoothly Mn the various sections of the grounds To facilitate this Washington Park is doubly fortunate in having the nations loftiest eye in the sky tower towerWith With the erection of the 130foot giant last summer booths for the public address sys ¬ tem and the radio announcers were incor ¬ porated in the structure causing it to be labeled the tower of Babel Then track superintendent John J Sullivan discovered that from one of the higher levels of the tower he could best supervise the entire racing plant plantThus Thus for the approaching thirtyday meet ¬ ing Sullivan and John D Jackson assistant general manager have had installed in the tower complete telephone service with every part of the track The starting gate the stable areas the admission gates various points in the parking lots and of course the race trcck offices all will be in direct communication with Sullivan any time he desires making the tower of Babel the nerve center of Washington Park ParkAlso Also on the tower will be the placing judges who will complement the camera at Washington Park The south side track was the first to elevate its placing judges to a better vantage point
