CLAFLAG GETS NOSE DECISION Captures Honors in Best Race on onBeulah Beulah Park Card Chessie ChessieRepeats Repeats in Second COLUMBUS Ohio May 18 In the most exciting finish of the afternoon Mrs K Hor vaths Claflag nosed out Rolanda and Chau mont the pacemaker in the closing strides for the Wooden Shoe Trophy and premier honors in the fifth and best offering of this afternoons card at Beulah Park Chaumont and Rolanda raced closely lapped contest ¬ ing the leadership to the final furlong with Claflag in closest pursuit and the latter proved gamest in the final test testRain Rain fell during the greater part of the afternoon and the races were contested over a heavy track The attendance was confined to the regulars regularsLady Lady B the favorite graduated from the maiden ranks when she led throughout in the initial dash Perdition Idealistic and Chessie all came from behind in the stretch to win their respective races Chessie was only up in the closing strides to win which marked her second success at this meeting meetingJockey Jockey G L Smith escaped with a shak ¬ ing up when his mount Rosweep went down at the far turn in the first race and he resumed riding later in the afternoon after canceling his mounts in the second and third events
