NARRAGANSETT TURF NOTES I The total claims for the first fifteen days of Narragansetts spring meeting rose to twentyfive Tuesday when two horses were led to new barns A R Mann claimed Tran ¬ sit Lady out of the second race and O H Rowe claimed Ukraine out of the eighth race Clyde Van Dusen trainer for C T Fishers pretentious Dixiana stable was gradually pulling away from his competitors in Narragansetts race for leading winning trainer honors Vari Dusen has sent nine winners postward during the first fifteen days of the spring meeting Harvey L Campbell is second with seven trips to the winners circle Sam Hicks is third with five L A Brusie and R Mcllvain have each saddled four while E D Haughton J Donovan H Radke Robert Curran L Haymaker W Hodson and Joseph M Brooks have each scored three times timesC C Van Dusen predicted his string at the summer meeting here would be the most powerful he has ever brought East He was the leading trainer here last summer and gave charityPhil the 500 prize to charity Phil Bieber announced this morning that he had sold four horses Shyno Sun Temp ¬ est Tellwhy and Naughty Curl to J W Walsh middlewesterner middlewesternerSammy Sammy Renick leading rider for Alfred G Vanderbilt arrived here this morning to ride Branncastle Farms filly The Schemer in the Bethy Williams Stakes this afternoon He immediatelyLou will return to New York immediately Lou Smith a visitor to Narragansett Park reports many improvements going on at the Salem N H oval and that work on a new press box on the roof is almost completed
