Race HOMEWOOD 111 June 3 Tiger Mrs Ethel V Mars twoyearold of undoubted quality which in his first Washington Park start ran to the outside fence made amends for that disappointing performance when he scored an easy victory in the Wildwood Purse a fivefurlong dash for juveniles which was the principal offering at the Homewood track Thursday The son of Bull Dog and Starless Moment a pronounced public choice was equipped with a special bit designed to prevent his bearing out and that it worked was seen in the manner in which he skinned the inside rail turning into the stretch stretchThe The Mars youngster was little more than breezing to his rivals as he crossed the line of finish two lengths in advance of the runnerup Valdina Farms Roy T while Mrs Emil Denemarks Radio Charm was third and Osculet a stablemate of Roy T was fourth Tigers time for the fiveeighths was 59 recorded over a fast track and that figure was onefifth of a second slower than the course record recordTAKES TAKES EARLY LEAD LEADTiger Tiger in carrying Alfred Roberton to his second saddle success of the afternoon took command shortly after the start and quickly opened up a substantial lead He bore out slightly going into the turn but Robertson brought him back sharply before reaching the stretch and showed no further inclina ¬ tion to follow anything except a true course courseRoy Roy T moved past his stable companion into second place entering the stretch and stayed there to the end beating Radio Charm a length and a half for his share of the purse while the latter got up in the last stride or so to be third The others in tho field of seven did not figure strongly in the running runningThe The Wildwood Purse was offered as the third event eventPleasant Pleasant weather and a fast track pre ¬ vailed for the sport which was witnessed by a weekday gathering of usual proportions proportionsUNIQUE UNIQUE RECORD RECORDRobertson Robertson clinched riding honors for the day when Mrs H H Hectors Wise Duke another of the shorterpriced favorites raced to an easy victory in the fifth a sprint of six furlongs which served as the secondary attraction By winning with Wise Duke Robertson achieved a unique record having triumphed with each of his last five mounts He took down the last two races Wednesday and scored with each of his three mounts this afternoon afternoonWise Wise Duke in running the threequarters in 111 won in easy fashion by three lengths Slim Rosie being second and Marca bala third The Hector fouryearold came through on the inside at the head of the stretch to take the lead from Slim Rosie and Continued on thirtyeighth page TIGER ROBIPS TO EASY VICTORY AT HOMEWOOD Continued from first page once in front never left the result in doubt Slim Rosie showed the way for about a half mile and though no match for the winner she hung on well in spite of bearing out in the stretch and saved the place by a neck Fourth money fell to Star Bud which led home three others completing the field fieldJEAN JEAN CLOUD LUCKY LUCKYThe The first race saw Mrs J Lowensteins Jean Cloud score a very lucky victory to graduate from the maiden twoyearold ranks The daughter of High Cloud ridden by Alfred Robertson won by a length but it was obvious that the best horse was the favorite Cross Keys which bolted to the outside fence on the turn at a loss of many lengths and still had speed enough left to be second at the end of the five furlongs Pedant finished third beaten a length and a half for the place but might have been a little closer except for the fact that Cross Keys bore over on her slightly inside the final eighth Luckingo led home the others in the field of seven juvenile fillies The winner which was well backed was in front from shortly after the start and ran the distance in 101 101SPIRITED SPIRITED FINISH FINISHThe The six furlongs second race produced a spirited finish in which four horses raced past the judges in cavalry formation with Parva Stella ridden by Paul Ryan getting the decision by a half length In close order behind the winner were Hour Zev Sky Cloud and Jascha The latter ruled a slight favorite over the winner Parva Stella took the lead shortly after the break and under the energetic handling of her rider remained there throughout Sky Cloud raced in closest attendance of the pace right down to the last stride where Hour Zev poked his nose in front to grab second money Jascha always was among the leaders and also finished determinedly barely missing third place placeMaking Making his first start since his arrival from Maryland P M Ryans Moon Harvest made every post a winning one in the fourth race Charley Kurtsinger rode the son of Canter and sending him to the front shortly after the ragged start opened up a big early lead
