CAMERA FINISHES NUMEROUS Close Decisions Mark Fridays Rac ¬ ing at Agawam Park Quiet Lass Just Lasts SPRINGFIELD Mass June 4 On a program marked by many camera finishes and featureless for the second consecutive day Quiet Lass bearing the silks of Eagan and Madden achieved her initial score in two years of campaigning when she ac ¬ counted for the fourth race a test of five and onehalf furlongs for fillies and mares that was the nearest approach to a feature at Agawam Park today Beaten on the oc ¬ casion of eight other outings Quiet Lass under the energetic P A Smith accom ¬ plished her purpose in a thrilling finish when she barely lasted long enough after cutting out all of the running to gain the verdict of the judges while Mrs J V Stew ¬ arts Sallandry easily took the measure of Who and three other members This was the principal offering and found each of the starters engaged with a claiming tag rang ¬ ing in price from 1250 down to 1000 and it was the fourth consecutive time in as many races that the C M Waite camera was called into use to aid the placing judges in rendering a final decision decisionIn In this contest a few minutes were wasted before the half dozen starters were caught in an alignment suitable to the starter and it found Quiet Lass from her outside posi ¬ tion going into immediate command while Bonnie Maid and Who were quickest of the others to lead the pursuit Quiet Lass hav ¬ ing much more speed than usual barely held to the an osition in the opening furlong but at the turn moved away to en ¬ joy a lead of three lengths Jockey F A Smith was rating the filly along nicely as she saved some ground but through the final stages was subjected to a tenacious drive when Sallandry stole through on the inside to just miss earning brackets At the close the fighting pair were three lengths before Who while Bonnie Maid was another four lengths away to easily lead home Kaleida and the dull running favorite Lady Pal PalMarked Marked by pleasant weather a crowd of good proportions turned out for the sport that ended the first full week of sport sportDespite Despite racing surface that was termed slow from rains of yesterday some of the most thrilling racing of the meeting took place
