FIELD FOR PHOENIX HANDICAP Preeminent, Top Weight, to Try for Second Win in Stake. Privileged and Dusty Dawn Assigned 122 Founds for Keenelands Opening Day Fixture Main Man 120 Pounds. LEXINGTON, Ky., April 12. Preeminent, winner of the 1937 renewals of the Phoenix Hotel, Toboggan, Newport and Fall Highweight Handicaps, under Hal Price Headleys colors, and considered one of the leading sprinters of last years racing, will attempt to win his second Phoenix Hotel Handicap at Keeneland Park on opening day of the Kentucky season, Thursday, April 14. The son of Supremus and Star Class was assigned the top impost of 132 pounds for the six furlongs test, which is endowed with ,500 in added money. .Under the rules of the racing commission, the top weight shall be no less than the scale, and Preeminent, due to his splendid record, which also includes a handicap victory over Wise Prince at Hialeah Park was selected as the leader of the nineteen eligibles. CONCEDING WEIGHT. He will be giving away weight to all of his opponents with Privileged and Dusty Dawn next in consideration under 122 pounds each. Main Man, holder of two track records at River Downs, turned in several excellent trials at Oaklawn Park, but was not under colors, and the Phoenix will be his seasons debut. Fraidy Cat, won only on . of his nine starts during the Miami season, but he won the Belle Isle Handicap at Detroit and the Inaugural at Arlington last year. The aging son of Apprehension is still a dangerous factor in sprint races, and Preeminents recent six furlongs in 1:14 demonstrated this stables strong hand for the race. Although he has shown several sparkling works at Douglas Park, Bacon is suffering from a foot ailment and this probably will prevent him from filling his engagement. Double B campaigned very successfully at Miami and Torchy won his last two starts at Santa Anita, Josh is another one to have wintered at Keeneland and Churchill Downs and his recent five furlongs over the Louisville track in 1:00 served notice that he still possesses his early speed.
