Spencer War Admiral Seabiscuit Footing Referee Decision on Track Condi ¬ tions 830 A M Tuesday War Admiral Works Mile and a Quarter in 20735 in Prepa ¬ ration for Match Race BALTIMORE Md Oct 26 Jervis Spen ¬ cer Jr chairman of the Maryland State Racing Commission will serve as the um ¬ pire to determine if the condition of the Pimlico track is suitable for Seabiscuit and War Admiral for their match race Tuesday afternoon it was announced here today by Alfred Vanderbijt vicepresident of the Maryland Jockey Club whose efforts re ¬ sulted in the event being scheduled scheduledBoth Both Charles S Howard and Samuel D Riddle owners of the participants in the mile and threesixteenths race for a 15000 purse winnertakeall have consented to Spencers selection Vanderbilt said and the local acceptedOwners sportsman has accepted Owners of both horses desire that the track shall be in good or fast condition for the running and Spencer is to decide at 830 oclock Tuesday morning if the going is satisfactory otherwise the race will be post ¬ poned until next Thursday Should the track be approved at the specified time and a change should occur thereafter the race will be held as scheduled unless one of the horses defaults defaultsFINAL FINAL LONG WORKOUT WORKOUTWar War Admiral underwent what may prove to be his final long workout for the Pimlico Special this morning when he worked a mile and onequarter in 207 finishingly hand ¬ ily The track was good With Charles Kurtsinger in the saddle and carefully rated the son of Man o1 War Brushup was timed by furlongs as follows 12 24 37 49 102 115 127 140 153 and 207 207Trainer Trainer George Conway is expected to give War Admiral another trial before the match probably Saturday morning but it may be over a shorter distance distanceSeabiscuit Seabiscuit also was asked for speed this morning but his trial was restricted to three furlongs probably as a forerunner to a more serious workout tomorrow Under George Woolf the veteran Californiaowned horse stepped the opening furlong in 12 the quarter in 24 and the threeeighths in 37 well in hand
