SIR QUEST CONSISTENT Jewett Representative Earns Third Purse at Sportsmans Park Cicero Track Again Favored by Ideal IdealConditions Conditions Four One Fails Failsin in Opening Race CICERO 111 Oct 26 Sir Quest the con ¬ sistent plater which performs under the silks of Russell Jewett scored his third vic ¬ tory of the meeting in accounting for the featured Aurora Purse at Sportsmans Park this afternoon The race was decided over a mile and a sixteenth and in covering the distance on a fast track in 151 the Sun Edwin gelding won by a length and a half with Butsey Hernandez Symphon finish ¬ ing second six lengths before W J Alfords Lowry At odds of 3 to 1 Sir Quest was the favorite and the first public choice to score here in two days daysRidden Ridden by Delpha Castillo Sir Quest took the lead going into the first turn and there ¬ after was never headed He drew away four lengths from his nearest rival on the stretch turn but had to be ridden out in the drive to stall off Symphon which closed gamely after having raced well up from the outset Lowry finished courageously while Wild West which ran fourth came from far back Wild West might have been a more serious factor but he was almost knocked down going into the turn and it was some time before he recovered recoveredOna Ona Boy raced closest to the pace for about seven furlongs and then had enough dropping back steadily thereafter Water cure was another among the leaders much of the way but he gave way after reaching the last turn and suffering mild interfer ¬ ence going into it itATTENDANCE ATTENDANCE GRATIFYING GRATIFYINGThe The feature and the other seven races were presented under ideal weather condi ¬ tions and once more a crowd of gratifying proportions was on hand handFour Four One a sixyearold maiden was made the favorite in the first race but after flattering his supporters by showing speed to the last eighth he quit and finished far back of the leaders The winner was J D Englishs Beautiful Bud which came from I i Continued on nineteenth page SIR QUEST CONSISTENT Continued from first page behind to score by a length and a half as Melva Jane ran second and Prince Mac third Grey Flash and Hangar battled Four One for pacemaking honors but none of them had anything left when the real test came near the end Beautiful Bud ridden by William Page paid a little more than 5 to 1 in the mutuels mutuelsIn In the second race decided over seven furlongs the favorite fared somewhat better but he still did not win The public choice here was Incognito but the best he could do was to finish second beaten a neck by the Cornhusker Stables Transfun ridden by Earl Dew Transfun followed in closest pursuit of Incognitos pace to within a few yards of the wire and then forged to the front to receive the decision of the judges Broadway Roxy moved up to take third money with Dark Seeker finishing fourth Transfun was a 5 to 1 chance in the betting bettingFLETUS FLETUS BY NECK NECKMrs Mrs D Sekickys Fletus stood a sharp drive gamely to get a neck decision at the end of the seven furlongs of the third race and to enable apprentice Dew to ride his second winner The son of Stimulus took the lead from My Grandson the favorite after about threeeighths but later had to repel a strong challenge from Honored Miss to get the big end of the purse Hon ¬ ored Miss took the place three lengths before Double Brush while My Grandson which tired badly was well back of the leaders when he crossed the line of finish
