CANADIAN OWNER TRIUMPHS Wage Earner Proves Best in Carr Purse at Cincinnati Raymond Makes Debut in Pruett Colors and andScores Scores Surprise Victory in the theSecond Second Race CINCINNATI Ohio Oct 26 Wage Earner a son of Masked Marvel II carried the Rose dale Stable colors of George Clark Canadian sportsman to their first victory of the meet ¬ ing when he was an easy winner of the Sam H Carr Purse the fourth event Two lengths in his wake at the end of six furlongs was Imperial Farms Imperial Sir with Sherry B outfinishing Time Play for minor honors Wee Betsy and Conrad P the other con tentants finished back of the leaders in the named order orderThe The city of Dayton Ohio was honored the races being named for the leading citizens and a big delegation from that town boosted the crowd to the largest of the week Again sunny weather prevailed for the sport and Wage Earners victory was the second of the afternoon for those held in greatest esteem esteemADAIR ADAIR TAKES CHANCE CHANCERobert Robert Adair drove the winner through on the inside to attain a clear lead during the opening quarter and responding to a light shaking up in the stretch he came to the finish with something to spare In close quarters during the opening half mile Im ¬ perial Sir was forced wide at the stretch turn but coming fast after reaching the stretch he held the fastfinishing Sherry B safe After a tardy beginning Wee Betsy was used up in reaching contention and she found the task too great giving way steadily after going five furlongs and Conrad F quit badly after traveling fivesixteenths Time Play raced on the outside from the start startAdair Adair completed a double when Squads Right running the fastest threequarters of the afternoon emerged the winner of the fifth race Mandas Baby was second a nose before High Santa A length farther back was Fair with Windshield the favorite fifth Forced to lose ground from the start Squads Right defeated the pacemaking Mandas Baby in the final stride while High Santa which saved ground throughout hung in the last stages Windshield raced wide throughout and closed with a rush Fair lasted to take fourth honors Squads Right sped the six furlongs in 1114 1114Front Front Fender cofavorite with Rockrim which showed a dismal effort was a driving winner of the first race at a mile and forty yards Pakala was a half length back of the winner and a nose before Baby Princess a fielder Five Sisters Baby Princess and Pakala dominated the pace until reaching the final forty yards where Robert Duncan drove the winner to the front to be drawing away at the end Rockrim raced wide early and Uncle July one of the choices was through after going threequarters threequartersTARPON TARPON FAILS FAILSMaking Making his debut for George Pruett who purchased the son of Monks Way late yes ¬ terday Raymond was a handy and surprise winner of the second race at six furlongs Tarpon the second choice was second and Curley Cue finished third The latter had the early speed of the eleven but Porter Roberts drove the winner to the front enter ¬ ing the final half mile and held sway there ¬ after After being steadied along for three furlongs Tarpon moved up with a rush but he was no match for the winner Ethels Choice a lukewarm choice showed nothing to supportBowen justify her support Bowen was astride his first winner of the afternoon when he piloted Kentucky Jane to an easy score in the third event at six furlongs Gay Bill was second and Cheer Star a strongly supported choice third Kentucky Jane raced Clasp into defeat dur ¬ ing the opening fivesixteenths and steadily Increasing her advantage by saving ground reached the finish three lengths before Gay Bill Not unlike a majority of the Mrs M M Johr performers when held at short odds Cheer Star began slowly raced wide for a half mile and made up ground when put to pressure in the stretch
