DOWNS HORSE COLONY Approximately Three Hundred on Hand and More Expected Plenty of Racing Material Assured Assuredfor for SevenDay Session Which WhichBegins Begins Saturday October 29 LOUISVILLE Ky Oct 26 With 300 horses already on the grounds and assur ¬ ances of 100 more coming from River Downs Saturday night and Sunday and approxi ¬ mately fifty each due to arrive from Keene ¬ land and Sportsmans Park the latter part of the week Churchill Downs will not lack racing material during the seven days meet ¬ ing which gets under way here Saturday A check of the barns Wednesday morning by Cliff Burke who has charge of the stalls here revealed 302 horses on the grounds with fourteen stabled at Douglas Park which will be moved over here Saturday SaturdayAfter After coming in fast during the early part of the week horsemen were slow in arriv ¬ ing at the local track today Most of the horsemen who participated at Keeneland and who made reservations to race here have already arrived with the exception of a few who have approximately fifty horses still remaining at Keeneland or on farms outside Lexington LexingtonThe The largest single shipment to arrive today was the fourteen head in charge of trainer William Causey who is handling the IV Turk Beyda string as well as a divi ¬ sion for Dr E D Bennett prominent Chi ¬ cago surgeon Included in the shipment was the veteran mare Grout au Pot and the aged Grey Streak which Beyda purchased from Mrs A M Creech shortly before the stable got away from Hawthorne Others tnat came in the car and which will carry the popular Beyda colors are All Image Fandan Flying Doll Sure Swift Ho Miney Delta Dan Hy Sonny and Connie Anne For Dr Bennett the young trainer will direct the conditioning of Legal Advice Blue Drag ¬ on and Peggy Byrd ByrdMCLEAN MCLEAN TOLD TO REPORT REPORTApprentice Apprentice Pete McLean whose contract was purchased during the Hawthorne meet ¬ ing from Charles Shaw by Causey has been instructed to report to his employer at Churchill Downs tomorrow The clever ap ¬ prentice who is at Sportsmans Park and who hails from New England was one of the leading riders on the Chicago circuit this past season seasonArriving Arriving with one of the smallest divisions of the Dixiana in years Clyde Van Dusen lost little time in registering his charges The star of the shipment to reach the local course this morning was Star Boarder a nominee for the Kentucky Jockey Club Stakes Others the popular little trainer has for Dixiana are World War Red Haste Bctcha Strathspey and Frivolous In addi ¬ tion to the above Van Dusen is training Torch Betty and Peter Tokalon for his wife which came from the farm along with the Dixiana campaigners
